Naked Boys, Naked Boys Sweaty Glistening Naked Boys

Recorded July 25th 1996

The name was taken from an episode of MAD Television that we were watching at Vic Moya's when we were trying to decide what we were going to call the album. We watched a skit with the words "naked boys, naked boys, sweaty glistening naked boys" in it and thought it would be a good idea and called the 7 inch that. The sooner the better so we could play poker.

This was the only well done studio recording that Cartoon Khaki would put out. It was also the only recording that Curtis Mathis would ever release as well. Next to the Earthlings 7 inch which came out about a year before this one Naked Boys remained with the Earthlings 7 inch the only known local records at the time.

The debate on whether to have the 7 inch at 45 rpm or 33 1/3 rpm was short lived. We wanted to put as much as possible on the record. And of course the decision to make it a clear red record as well. Each band was supposed to have separate art work for each side as well. However Cartoon Khaki's idea of having Jerry Urjaz throwing up in the toilet never made it to press. Which disappointed the band abit. Rob thought it would be a good idea to have a drunk guy on the record spinning around and around, and the whole band agreed. Side note: If you try to have a race to see who can drink a bottle the fastest it is best not to down a micky of gin (Jerry) in one minute with someone else (Jeff) just drinking a beer. You will look like the photo of Jerry in 15 minutes.

After all this thought it was going to cost a little more then $1000 between both of the bands. Some band members bunted more of the cost then others, some non-band members as well. Belated thank-you's go to Dave Harangozo and Jen Moore for that.

We would do anything to get the needed cash quick. Mark, Jeff, Rob and Vic all volunteered their time to earn cash towards the recording by raking grass, July 23rd 1996. The grass was like hay because the lawn was so over grown. Mark and Vic actually did most of the work while Rob took photos and Jeff offered much needed moral support for the raking endeavor. But we managed to get $100 that day for our labour.

The anticipation of the recording was great. For all of us this was the first time in a real studio to record our songs. No one could wait and it was a very exciting day when it finally came. Vic Moya was totally elated. This was one of his dreams come true.
