Dance Studio News fur memfurs and furriends

We're starting a new season at the studio and continuing all our classes, both for beginners and advanced dancers. So we'd luff to have new kitties come in and learn their fafurite dances, and we hope to offer new events fur mew talented and "seasoned" dancers as well. There is always more to learn and do, and it's always fun!

If mew would like to apply fur membership in the dance studio, it's easy! Just send us an email here to let us know, and we will enroll mew and send mew a memfurship card.

To find out about our dance classes and the Dance Nights we plan, just check our schedule here. Our memfurs only take classes if they want to, and can take as many as they'd like. They can also use the studio fur practice whenefur they wish, and attend our dance nights. Tell your furriends about the studio, maybe they would like to join, too. We luff to get new memfurs.

We didn't haff a Spotlight class during the summer, as mew know. Now that we're all back, we are spotlighting our newest dance class, Irish Step Dancing, fur this two months. These classes just started recently, and we're hafing lotsa fun learning. We're makin lotsa noise in there, too, and wow, some kitties are sure good at those high leaps! We'll haff some exciting plans to let mew know about fur this class later on. So don't miss any classes!

Be sure to check out our Studio Shoppe too. We haff a great supply of all kinds of dancing needs fur mew there. We just added special Irish dance shoes to our good line of shoes, soft liddle ghillies fur beginning and the professional hard shoes fur performing Irish step dancing. Nope, those aren't a bit uncomfurtable, they fit good and make happy Irish tappities while mew dance. If mew think of anything else we need in the shoppe, let us know and we can order it.

Now fur our regular dance article:

Bending and Leaping
by Phelicity

Furst bending, which is something we kitties do furry well. In most cases.

When we are doing Irish step dancing, our arms and legs are a liddle diffurnt from most other kinds of dance. First, we mostly just leaf our arms down, we doesn't gotta worry about what they's doing. That part is easy and furry good fur holding snacks in our paws, too. Step dancing takes lotsa energy, so snacks are allowed any time. Mew can tell by the jelly donuts in your teachers' paws.

But our legs are sposed to bend in ways that kitty legs don't mewsually bend. Yup, mew noticed that already. This takes practice, but it's not impossible because we does haff knees. Honest. Look and see. See? The trick is to bend our foot away from our knee, not the way we walk but the way we ...err... fall down.. and not fall down. Luckily we only has to do this wiff one leg, so we only fall down half as much. This is the main thing we're workin on in class. Cuz in a line of step dancers, dancing furry close to each other, mew see what can happen if one kitty falls down. It's like dominoes. And we doesn't like being embarrassed.

So we do need to work on bending, but next is leaping and no kitty efur had to work at leaping! We do leaping better than anybody else in the world. We can leap higher, easier, and more gracefully than any! Of course, mew might haff noticed that we normally haff something in mind to leap up onto. Mew know, a bookcase, a refrigerator, a four-story kitty condo. Whatefur is there. Mew might also notice we doesn't keep these things in the dance studios where we haff classes. Oh dear, so what does we do now?

That's right, there is always something to leap to, efen if it is what we just leaped from. We aren't going somewhere high up to look down, we're leaping in the dance! And I'm happy to say that all our Irish step dancing students got this method down the furst day. It's so fun to leap! Most of us leap clear across the room and come down dancing and tapping. Of course, the trick is to not slide across the floor into the wall when we does this. But if it happens, just purrtend it's part of the dance. Like I did.

About bending and leaping at the same time, don't worry about that because it isn't required. After all, we are kitties. We do all this in our own special way. Aren't we lucky?

Here's a review of our special DVD we got in the shoppe fur our Irish step dancing kitties.

Riverdance!
by Phelicity

Riverdance is one of my all-time fafurites, some of the happiest dancing I efur saw! We're sure to all enjoy this wonderpurr Irish step-dancing show, whether we are learning it ourselfs or not. This video is the original show, starring Michael Flatley, the Irish dancer who is known as "Lord of the Dance". He's the one who leaps clear acoss the stage in his dances. He is awesome!

Most of the dances are performed by the whole troup, doing steps, jumps an tapping in perfect unison to wonderpurr Irish mewsic. Dey are so energetic, I watched dem wif my mouf open the whole time. One of the stars, Jean Butler, also does some furry fancy dancing in soft shoes, wif leaps and fast twisty leg work, it makes me gasp! Another star dances a special solo number in a red gown that is more a Spanish type of dance, furry much like a Flamenco. Her beautifur dance was stunning!

Mew can imagine how these fast dances must wear dem out, and dey needs a rest! The soft Irish mewsic in between is mesmerizing, and there are purrty songs by Irish singers and choruses between the dance numbers. While the dancers were backstage changing costumes and goin pantpant. The whole show is so entertaining, I hated fur it be over, so I watched it again. I bet mew will, too.
