SEVENTH SCENE.

The same ones, an Officer, and Permanents.

Officer. Enter Comrades. (The Permanents fill the room, and they surround the clubmen.) Mine Sirs! Have patience. I come ordered by superior order.

Bignose. Monsters! Do you profane this sacred asylum of the Citizens? Leave here now, with a thousand devils.

Officer. Yes Sir; I must go out with Your Lordship. The Government orders to gather you all in the House of the Madmen and Fools.

Guts. (interruption.) This was the devil.

Mygodfather. (trembling.) That order needs discussion; but we are coerced; therefore I demand this business be postponed until tomorrow.

Officer. I don't admit discussions, nor postponement. Let us go.

Monkey. Mr. Officer, and you, Permanents, will you be by chance hallucinated? Do you maybe want to throw profane hands on the Fathers of the Homeland? What does mean this apparatus of swords, bayonets, rifles with wich you come armed? Are we maybe wicked or thieves?

Tanquam ad latrones existis eum gladiis, et fustibus comprehendere nos? On behalf of the afflicted Homeland, I demand, Sirs, you don't make us violence; you don't want to incur in the crime of representative Harm-majesty.

Officer. I accomplish the orders of my Superior. You are disturbing the public serenity; your conduct has been intolerable; and crazy fellows are necessary to move away of the Society. Let us go.

Monkey. Skies! Where are the rays, that are still not falling on these criminal heads? Monsters! So you despise the Representatives of a free Nation? Where are our warranties, our inviolabilities?

Officer. Madmen don't have warranties. Walk, walk. Comrades! move forward! Keep an eye on this blackbirds. Madhouse for them. There best they will form the plans of anarchizing the Province.

Guts. I well was free from this mockery! But who involves himself with children awakes urinated.
