If you haven't seen the sort of thing featured clubs get beyond the club logo which appears on our clubsite for a week, then you haven't seen anything yet.

Each week (sometimes monthly), ArrylT reviews and forwards the name or a list of clubs which have requested and meet the guidelines for featuring (see Feature Policy). A full webpage is prepared with fresh graphics, describing the club, displaying over a dozen graphics for clubsite display, and offering banners and more.

February is always a month of just a smidgeon off, perhaps because it is shorter than all the other months. And yet, even though it had few days, there were a lot of new clubs joining us this past month.

Take the time to stop by one or two of these clubs for a visit, or see their description in our Member Club Listing to see if this club is one that appeals to your own interests.

Club policy is to allow membership for ninety (90) days to persons not reporting a club in foundership. This period allows persons who join to learn how to start clubs to ask questions and receive assistance in setting up their clubs. After the grace period, persons who have not reported a club foundership are administratively removed from CFC membership. It's part of our contract with you that all members are founders. If you have not reported a club because you wish the club name to remain confidential or you just forgot, please write: Angelpie_Mouse@yahoo.com.

Considering the volitility of the Internet (and the assistance of hackers making it that way), for a club to survive to its first anniversary is a milestone deserving recognition, for a club to make it to two years is...well! So, this newsletter we recognize all clubs which have survived to celebrate the surpassing of their founding date in the month of March because they did. Many Happy Returns of the Day!

Success stories in member clubs are something we enjoy reporting.

Mistybunny's Guiding On The Go club held a Secret Valentine e-mail event. "We had about 40 members involved! This was a great success and everyone enjoyed receiving e-cards, virtual gifts, holidays and, of course, chocolate all through the email and all from a Secret Valentine! The members enjoyed it so much that we are currently running a Secret Friend week, where we will do the same in March and then a Secret Bunny Pals for Easter!"

As of February 26th, Shelties has grown to 392 members even after the removal of forty IDs two weeks previous which reduced their membership from 400. Said a Shelties spokesperson: "We only purged off repeated bounces [from founder e-mail]. We have had an incredible growth lately both at Yahoo and eGroups, and a quick search shows us to be all round Number 1 in both sites. We are quite proud of this :) If all goes well Yahoo should tap us on the shoulder to retain our name after the merge is completed."

Advil Award Winner

The award is actually fictious, but we're thinking about making it real. Indeed, we're thinking about making Yahoo! install an Advil dispensing machine in the new clubs interface, but that's another story.

On Tuesday, February 20th, our member Valerie_008, founder of Lady Founders2 broke her leg while snowboarding in the Swiss Alps. Valerie, who lives in Switzerland, was hospitalized for a few days, but released the following Thursday. Her first remark on leaving the hospital was: "with all the modern stuff they got going for them, you would think they would have Internet access with all hospital beds, wouldn't you?" Now, there's an idea we can probably all get behind! We all wish Valerie_008 the best in her recovery.

Sincere Condolences

PJ's Post Polio Support mourns the loss of a member and co-founder. On February 18, 2001, news came to our member, amonji (also known as PJ) that her co-founder, trcgm of the Dominican Republic, had passed away. Said PJ, "Our TONY was a real strong person, always available to others that were in need of answers about PPS. She also did our Spanish chats...for members that are from North/South America. ...its not going to be easy, to still have her name up as co-founder." We send amonji, glist2000, and lcooling our sincere condolences for their loss of a friend and co-founder.

New Arrival... Last month, we reported she was waiting anxiously for word; this month, we can report that jenmomx2 is a proud new Aunt! Thomas Reese came in at 6lbs 13oz and 19 inches long. He was born Feb. 9th at 9:42pm. Other news from jenmomx2 is that she is struggling with her "dinosaur" keyboard she tells us. I guess thats what happens when your computer gets a "virus" and you spill cough syrup all over it! (only kidding about a virus!)

Dream_Flower sent this news to us: "I have a big event happening in my life soon. My bf is leaving for boot camp, joining the ani national guard on the 7th March."

Sharonlower sends this: "My 19-year-old son is getting ready to serve a two year mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (The Mormons)." We know that Sharonlower is understandably proud of her son and his commitment.

We are very happy to announce that our very own NOWAYWINS and Mrs. NOWAYWINS are expecting a new addition to their family! Baby is due in September! We wish them all the best!

Some CFC Notes

#K-Post Contest is on! We are approaching another club milestone. Sometime during this month, we expect to see post #4000. The contest is meant as a reward for proliferacy in posts. 250 Members Strong There was a time when we didn't think we would see two hundred members. There was a time when we didn't think we would crack the Top 10 in founder clubs either. And, while we continue to stress that's it is quality not quantity that counts, we cannot help but crow just a little. We're #8 and climbing.

Small Power Shift This past week, a quiet coup d'tat took place in the CFC administration. If fact, it was so quiet we almost feel that it doesn't bear mention. However, as of last Friday, March 9, 2001, the new chief founder of CFC became AngelPie_Mouse. Retiring from the top position due to other interests and off-line obligations, our former chief founder, ArrylT will continue as a co-founder. He'll still be in charge of contests, feature club selection--all the duties he had in the past, but the heavy decision making stuff now passes to the mouse.

Hypothetical: it is conversion day. You click your link to your club to discover that the new interface is in place. How do you use it? Where is your founder's message? How do you notify your members? Are you still a club at all? You seek out the help files and find error message after error message because everyone--users and founders--is making this same discovery today, is also in a panic, is also trying to access those files. Sound far-fetched? Don't bet on it.

The primary reason we created CFC_Experimental was to help you over some of those first day hurtles, to give you some advance experience with the interface. We wanted to prepare you for the new terminology. We wanted to help you past merger shock so that you could help your members with the same problems. We wanted to help you with understanding your owner/moderator settings, member subscription settings, and the ways you can use to contact your members and let them know what's going on.

One of the items we've been tracking is ID conversion. If you are a groups owner/moderator or user, you should know that a Yahoo! ID is required to access the new interface even if the association has been using a Yahoo! ID in the past. That may sound a little confusing. The difference is whether your groups access was tied to your e-mail address or your Yahoo! profile. E-mail address identification will cease on the day of conversion. Too, while we do not anticipate a conflict, if you are a Yahoo! founder/co-founder or user, the migration of your ID to a joint groups/clubs ID now may smooth things considerably.
