Nexus Convention 2000 in Berlin

What can I say? My very first convention wasn't like I expected - it was totally different and ways cooler! Who cares that the place looked like my old school building and the guests were rather known from supporting roles: it was great!

Where else can you expect that a Julie Caitlin Brown (Na'Thot from B5) suddenly steps barefeet to your table in the restaurant to answer some privat questions? That a Star Trek legend like Walter Koenig (do I really have to mention Chekov here?) gives his autographs for free? That our favourite actor Jeffrey Combs (Weyoun, Brunt,...yes you all know...) teaches a fan dressed as Weyoun how to speak and walk like a Vorta? That a totally incredible Ted Raimi (Xena) plays body double for Austin Powers during a striptease at the fancy dress contest (ahhh well, together with some other actors, including the above mentioned Mr. Combs and Robert W. Krimmer from B5)? That a nice Mira Furlan gives almost the whole panel in German?

If you want to get a really funny description of those highlights, have a look over at Brush'n Combs!

So this convention was really a place to meet both, fans and stars, to talk, to discuss, to take pictures. No hurry, no fierce security guards, and a good roasted chicken for 3.50DM ($1.50), how can you beat this?

Ah, I should not forget that aparently a subversive element has turned this Star Trek convention into a "Praise Jeffrey Combs" convention, not only by dedicating 4 pages to the man in the manual (all the others had only 1), but also by making a fabulous opening video that shows nothing than Weyoun, Weyoun, Weyoun....;)
