"That's what she said...  She told me we'd see forever...  That's what she said..."

Heather sang along to the version of That's What She Said as performed by Brian Littrell on Napster as she ran around her apartment, looking for her makeup.  Normally, the twenty-one year-old wouldn't bother with makeup, she hardly ever wore any - other than eyeshadow and lip gloss.  But today she had to look good.  Today she was going to see him.

She grabbed her purse and ran out the door, forgetting that her computer was on and still playing That's What She Said.  She didn't realize it was still on until she put the key in the ignition of her car.  Cursing herself under her breath for being so forgetful, she took the key out and ran back up the stairs to her Philadelphia, Pennsylvania apartment.  She was on the second floor of an apartment house, above her landlady, which wasn't all that much fun when her stereo was a bit too loud.

Driving to Scranton was harder than she had originally planned - the map that Triple A had provided had magically disappeared the night before the concert.  She tried to wing it by grabbing a map at the Texaco, but it wasn't helping.  She eventually found her way to Montage Mountain Performing Arts Center, by pure luck.  She had been driving around Scranton and the surrounding areas for hours until she figured out which venue that the Boys were playing at.

She had a hard time finding a parking spot that wasn't in Ohio, but after driving around the parking lot for twenty minutes, she found a semi-decent parking spot.  She glanced at her reflection in the mirror before getting out of the car and locking the doors behind her.  She walked to the stadium entrance, her sandals clicking on the pavement leading to the entrance.

She got her ticket torn in half and was escorted to her section by a bodyguard.  She sat down by a group of girls, people she was none too fond of.  She was patient during the opening acts of the concert, sitting in her seat fiddling with the straps on her purse.  The last twenty minutes before the Boys came onstage were the longest twenty minutes of her life.

The second Brian came into her view, she smiled.  He looked down at her from his spot onstage and smiled at her; her heart melted.  The girls standing next to her gave her a mean glance, but she ignored it and concentrated on Brian.  After a few minutes of the screaming, she couldn't take anymore and dug in her purse for the Advil she had stashed in there.  After taking two and a swig from her bottle of water, she prayed that the pills would dissolve like sugar in water.

"Always forever...  All the things she said...  Never say never...  Those simple lies that she fed...  I will never leave you...  All the love I thought she had...  But can you blame me no...  Mmmm cuz that's what she said...  That's what she said...  She told me we'd see forever...  That's what she said...  She said yeah..."

She smiled as Brian sang and played the guitar.  The simple song he had written for his ex-girlfriend was one of Brian-Fans' Favorites.  The song was meant to be painful, but to Brian and Heather, it signified a new beginning.

After the closing notes of Everybody played through the ampitheater, she made her way to the backstage area after finding the same bodyguard that escorted her to her seat earlier.  She waited on a couch outside of Brian's dressing room while he showered and changed out of his concert outfit.  She began flipping through a skiing magazine she found sitting on a table near the couch, waiting impatiently for Brian to finish.

After a few seconds, she heard his cellular phone ringing from outside the door.  He opened his dressing room door to grab her around the waist and kiss her, his phone in one hand.  The second their lips parted, Brian answered the phone.

"Yeah?"  Brian asked, depositing his arm around Heather's shoulders and walking toward the couch in the middle of the room.  He groaned the instant they sat down.

"What?" Heather mouthed, getting a grimace in reply.  She raised her eyebrows in confusion while Brian stood up and started pacing in front of the couch.  He only did this in her presence when he was pissed off or nervous.

"No.  Not today, not tomorrow, not next week, not ever."  He paused.  "I don't care if you write a book about me.  I'm with someone new and you can't-"

Brian stopped in mid-sentence.  He paused for no longer than a moment and shut off the phone, not bothering to say another word.  He flopped down on the couch next to Heather.

"I love you," were the only words that came out of his mouth as he put his head on her shoulder.

"Samantha?"

Brian scrunched up his nose and closed his eyes.  "Don't mention her name.  Tell me why I gave her my cell number again?"

Heather chuckled.  "Temporary loss of sanity."

"Oh."

"You are a nut case, you know that, right?" Heather asked, getting comfortable in his arms.

"Yup.  But you love me."

"Sometimes I wish I knew why, but yes, I do."

"I do...  Those words sound incredibly good coming out of your mouth, did you know that?"

Heather blinked.  "Huh?" she asked, sitting up straight.  "This is the first time I see you in what - six months - and you're telling me that I sound good saying 'I do?'  Brian...  Have you been stealing those little white pills from Nicky again?"

Brian rolled his eyes.  "NO I have not.  Damn child-proof caps won't let me."

Heather frowned.

"I'm kidding.  But I'm serious...  See, I've been meaning to ask you something for the longest time..."

"Like how long?" Heather cut in.

"I dunno, maybe...  The last six months.  Anyway, I wanted to ask you that...  Wait..."  Brian paused and jumped off of the couch.  He ran to his duffel bag, rummaging around in it.  "I know it's in here somewhere," he muttered, throwing a balled up pair of socks on the floor behind him.

Heather got off the couch and sat down next to him.  "Whatcha lookin for?" she asked, startling him.

"Umm..."  He suddenly grinned, grabbing onto a small black velvet box.  "This."

Heather's mouth opened and closed a few times before she settled on staring at the box.

"Heather, I love you with all my heart...  Sometimes I don't even know why I love you, I just do, and I could never even attempt to explain it because I would go crazy.  You have no idea how glad I am that I found you, because if I didn't, then I would be miserable right now.  I need you with me, I don't ever want you to leave my side again..."  He opened the box, revealing a diamond, surrounded by tiny blue stones, for her favorite color.  "Will you marry me?"

Heather's mouth dropped open.  "Oh my gosh, I can't not look at it..." she murmered.  She snapped her attention back to Brian.  "Oh my God, YES!" she exclaimed, throwing her arms around his neck.

He grinned and kissed her passionately.  As he slipped the ring on her finger, he said to her, "We will see forever.  I promise."
