"I have to tell him. It's now or never." Alexa said to herself as she pulled out of her drive way. She ran a hand through her red pixie cut hair do, blinking a few tears from her hazel eyes. "He leaves tomorrow. 6am."

She began to chew on her lip as she drove down the road, memories flooded her head.
Six years. The first five I thought he hated me, thought he was ignoring me. I pushed, but he only stood firm. Maybe I was pushing the wrong way. She thought to herself at a red light. She drummed her hands on the steering wheel looking around the streets she grew up in. Althought its ture he was leaving for college tomorrow, she'd be leaving next week, and reality has just begun to set in. Alexa leaned down and turned the radio on. She barely heard the DJ annouce what song was next as she started to go again. Soon, a familiar song filled the car. Isn't it funny, how a song can come on the radio and just simply describe just how you feel? She bit her lip again.

Just an ordianary day,
started out the same old way.
Thats when I looked into your eyes and knew,
today would be...A first for me.
The day I fall in love

Alexa put her left blinker on, as she turned onto his street. She turned down the radio, even though she didnt want to. She wanted to sing it out, because it described her exactally. Silence filled the car, but it was soon drowned out by the beating of her heart. It was pounding in her ears and it pounded faster as she pulled into his driveway.

He stood there, packing his black Ford F150 with different bags boxes and a few chairs. He even had a small refridgereator. He smiled wide to her as he heard her car pull up. He offered his shy wave and ran a hand through his short brown hair.

As soon as she stepped out of the car, he yelled to her. "Lex! You came."

"Yeah, I came." She fought back tears as she slammed the door. She had a small wrapped package in her hand.

He playfully messed her hair. "You cut it, and dyed it." He smiled and pulled on a strand.

Her eyes watched his hands, tears forming in her eyes. "I-I can't stay.." She pulled away from his hands and put her hand into her jean pockets. "I came to say goodbye."

"I know." He turned, facing her. He leaned against his truck. "Whats wrong?"

She turned the package in her hand, her eyes on it. "This is yours." She handed it to him. "But, dont open it until I leave, please?"

He nodded, still watching her.

"Wow. I reheresed this speech so many times for so many years. I never actually thought I would say it to you." She paused to laugh. "I still have time to get away." She rubbed tears away from her face. "You mean everything to me. I mean everything. You are the reason I have gotten up everyday for the past six years. You are the reason I never actually gave up. You were the reason for my depression. I-I." Her sentence breaks as she takes a breath, avoiding his eyes. "I know, its hard to actually believe I put that much into you, that I have put you on that high of a pedistal, but I did. For about five years you were my reason for everything. Finally we become seniors and we become friends. Suddenly everything in the entire world seemed right. My smiles were wider, my tears were sweeter, my laughter was louder and my heart no longer hurt. I began to forget exactally how high of a standard I had for you and began to accept you as a friend. Sure, i still was completely head over heels for you, but since you didn't want that I pushed it far behind me. I was glad for your friendship, it was better then being your noone. In life, I've learned my most important messages from you. You can't make someone love you, and to Never give up." She stops again, looking at him now. Hoping he would say something and at the same time hoping he wouldn't. "I-I'm sorry for loving you so much and so hard, I'm also sorry I didn't say this sooner." She turned and walked back to her car.

He turned the gift over in his hands, watching her. Tears forming in his eyes. He knew it was his place to speak, but he didn't know what to say. "I'm.."

She turned and intrrupted him. "I thought the hardest thing would be to tell you this...but now i know, the hardest thing would be to walk away pretending I didn't love you this much."

"I-I'm not good with talking to girls." He looked down, his cheeks red.

"You dont have to say anything. Just promise me. Promise me you'll remember me, and keep in touch." She opened her car door, looking back to him. Her cheeks stained with tears. "In ten years, at our class reunion. If neither of us are taken, say you'll give me a shot?"

"Lex, I'll never forget you." He looks back at the gift, then to her. "But you'll find someone, someone who'll love you and you'll make that man very happy."

She looked down to her feet. "I'd wait for you. I want you to be that happy man." She climbed into her car.

"Visit me." He yelled to her. "At college, when you aren't busy with yours. Meet me over break when we both come back."

"Will do." She closed the door and wiped tears from her eyes. She backed out of his driveway and took off down the street.

He watched, somewhat in shock. He turned the gift over in his hands and opened it. It contained letters and envelopes and a letter addressed to him. He opened it.

Andy,
I didn't have the slightest idea what to get the guy that had everything I could possibly give, except the gift to never forget me and always keep in touch. Selfish, I know, but I wont ever forget you.
Yours Truely,
Lex

"I won't forget you Lex." He placed the gift into his truck and walked into his house.
