WildLife As Pets
Generally this just doesn't work out.
There are those who DO have the ultimate patience and can deal with sharing their life and their home with a wild animal, but they are very few and far between.  When a wild baby "anything" begins to reach maturity and the baby "cuteness" is gone and the natural wild survival instincts begin to surface.........and the inevitable property damage begins, it is then that a wild animal suffers the most.........caged and isolated.  Before considering any wildlife as a pet, please check your local and state regulations.  Illegally held wildlife can and will be confiscated and put to death.
O.K., so you got a permit, a license and you can legally have the animal, what about qualified veterinarian care ? Have you checked to see if there are any vets in your area that will treat wildlife ? Most vets won't. Now what ?
It's vacation time, what do you do with your animal ? O.K., so you love it enough you won't take a vacation, but what about the destruction a wild animal can and will do out of boredom because you kept it from living a life it was born to live. Ready to constantly be replacing furniture, knick-knacks, carpeting, door jams ?
But most important, ask yourself how happy you would be in a strange place, with strange people, never to know who or what you are, no matter how well these strangers take care of you, never to know the joys of playing, learning with your own, never to know the comfort and friendship of your own kind. This is how you are asking a wild animal to live......IF YOU ISOLATE IT FROM IT'S OWN.
If your answer to the destruction question was "well, I will just build him/her a nice big cage",  ask yourself if you would like to live in a nice big cage.  Please allow Wildlife to live as they were born, wild and free roaming.
