Janeway & Chakotay

The fifth season begins with a J/C bang!!

We get Chakotay being worried and protective of Janeway in front of various members of the crew, and better yet, we get Chakotay being worried and protective of Janeway during a rather intense conversation in her quarters. And don't forget the invite to play Velocity!! More proof that they spend time together in their off hours!!

Janeway saves Chakotay's butt with her compression phaser rifle, and shortly after that there's a really great bit in sickbay. Play it through on slow motion, and it seriously looks like they're about to kiss! Oh, and they were standing really close together in the transporter room, too.

Then there's another scene in her quarters where she tells him he's a 'fine first officer' and that there's no one she trusts more than him!!

And finally, Chak leads a mutiny against her so that she won't go and sacrifice herself for them. Check out the look she gives him during that scene. He's in trouble. he he he

Maybe their wasn't any real J/C moments in this one, but I thought their interaction on the bridge throughout the whole ep was really nice.

Despite the fact that Chak flirting (not to mention kissing...) an 8472 was TOTALLY gross, this episode had it's moments. For starters, Janeway seemed really concerned about Chakotay the whole time he was being held by the aliens.

Also, their scene together in Astrometrics was quite good, as was the bit after that in sickbay.
Janeway - "You better go."
Chakotay - "I don't want to be late."
Janeway - "Just be home before midnight!"
*smirk smirk* Just remember not to take the whole Valerie/Chakotay thing too seriously. She is a huge, purple 8472, after all...

Well, where to begin? Not only was this ep a landmark for the series, it also took a major leap forward in the J/C relationship.

In Voyager's present -- WOW!! First the dinner invitation, then the actual dinner scene... Candlelight, flowers, home cooking, Janeway getting all touchy-feely... Yeesh! are TPTB trying to kill us or something?

The future... not as depressing as it might initially seem. It has been 15 years, after all. You can't blame Chakotay for getting lonely. Especially when the Other Woman herself say's that Chakotay's heart 'has always been on Voyager'.

And that's the interesting thing about the future timeline. Harry, of course, is there because of the whole guilt thing. But there was nothing really stopping Chakotay from accepting the tragedy and settling down in the Alpha Quadrant. Everything, that is, except his undying love for Kathryn Janeway! ;)

One little scene stands out - Janeway returns to the bridge after a disturbing encounter with Seven (she's sick... kind of) anyway, Chakotay asks her how she's holding up etc. Very sweet.

A tiny bit on the bridge where they're arguing over who won a famous Sumo wrestling match they both saw. I swear, if Janeway was leaning over any further towards Chakotay, she'd have her head in his lap!!!
