This is just a basic tutorial and should not be the only place you search for customizing advise.  There are many other sites offering custom tips and tutorials, and you should definitely search around.  I’ve also listed links to sites that offer customizing tools and supplies.

Custom Tips and Tutorials

Mare Ann’s Puzzlement—This is one of the best tutorials around.  I got my start here, and have borrowed heavily from this site.

The Customizer’s Club—This is a great place to join once you’ve begun customizing.  A note of advice: This is not a place to ask about basic customizing techniques.  If you ask how to dye ponies (and why do that?  I already told you how!  ^_^), you likely won’t get an answer.  But if you want to trade custom bait, ask for advise on advanced techniques, or show off your latest masterpiece, this is the place to go!

CloverFlower Fields—Lady Minty has a little bit of everything!  If you go to “Pony Rehab,” you’ll find some good customizing and repair tips.  Lady Minty is also web mistress of the Customizing Club.

Skylands—While this site doesn’t have an actual tutorial, it does give detailed accounts of how each custom was made, and you can get a lot of good techniques.  Just click on “My Little Pony,” then “Never-Made: Customs.”

Baby IceCrystal’s—Baby IceCrystal has awesome artwork, and she’s also put together some valuable customizing tips, such as how to dismantle Peek-a-Boo Babies.

Supplies

eBay—Okay, we all have a love/hate relationship with this place, but eBay is the best place to go for huge lots of custom bait ponies.

Tartblossom—Tartblossom makes brightly colored synthetic hair for Goth girls.  You can order huge bags of the stuff (in really great colors!) for very little money.

Testors—If you can’t find model paints in your area, or if you’re looking for a special color, the official Testors site is a great place to look.  They also have hobby knives, sandpaper, and airbrushes!

RIT—You can order hard-to-find colors here, and see the official RIT color-mixing guide.  It’s a great place to go if you’re as addicted to dye as I am.  ~_^
