Chapter 8: On the Road again or Ride, Ride, Ride, Hitchin’ a Ride

The three, now four, were cruising along the anime highway, and waiting for SilverWolf’s eyes to change to their normal color of brownish black. Nikkia was reading the exit signs out loud.

"Slayers, Oh my Goddess, Queen Emeraldas, Sorcerer Hunters, These are all animes!" Nikkia shouted.

"No shit, sherlock." Anjel said, frustrated, "God, get me out of this crazy place!" she shouted up to no one.

"Isn’t it amazing how the anime highway looks nothing like northern California?" SilverWolf remarked mildly.

"Come on people, I’m trying to drive!" DragonGirl said Nikkia gave her a Look.

"You can’t drive!" Nikkia shouted.

"Hey, yah!" SilverWolf said.

"Look, if you can make it with Sephiroth, and you can make it with Miki, then I can drive." She paused. "Oh, god, that sounded horrible." The car exploded with laughter.

"Hey, look, It’s…" SilverWolf gaped.

"Saionji!" DragonGirl said. And lo, it was. He was standing, bedraggled, on the side of the road, thumb out, with a sign saying "Will Work For….Work"

"Oh.. poor guy. Should we pick him up?" Nikkia said. DragonGirl shrugged.

"I don’t know, he is kind of insane.." SilverWolf looked defensive.

"Do you have something against that?" she asked. DragonGirl shook her head.

"I guess we could take him to some other anime." She relented. She pulled the car over.

"Hello." She said, "Going somewhere?" she asked. He shrugged.

"I don’t know." He looked at their car, and recognized it, "Hey that’s!" DragonGirl nodded, "How did you-" She shrugged.

"Simple persuasion." He shrugged, and, not willing to turn down a free ride, got in, "Where to?" He shrugged.

"Anywhere." He rubbed his temples with his fingertips. Anjel felt sorry for him.

"Poor Kendo team captain. Booted off the show. It’s OK, Anjel’s here." She hugged him, patting his back. Suddenly it became more (this is, after all, the Akio car) and SilverWolf jumped into the front to give them more room. It seems Saionji was unable to turn down a free ride in that respect as well.

DragonGirl gazed back at them through the rear view mirror. She slammed her fist on the steering wheel.

"Why is it that everyone but me gets some! I mean, even Anjel got some and she wasn’t even here for longer than one and a half stories!" SilverWolf condescendingly patted her on the head, "I need someone to call mine! How many heartaches must I stand before I find the love to let me live again? The only thing that keeps me hangin’ on is my strength, but its almost gone!" Suddenly SilverWolf couldn’t take it any more.

"But I say you can’t hurry love, no you just have to wait, love don’t come easy, it’s a game of give and take, You can’t hurry love, no you just have to wait, just trust in a good time, no matter how long it takes!" She finished the song with a flourish. DragonGirl effected a scowl, but stopped, for she knew SilverWolf was right.

"Yeah, I guess love is really more important than empty sex." She glanced at Nikkia and SilverWolf, then Saionji and Anjel cavorting in the back. They stopped.

"You know you’re really killing the mood, here!" Anjel shouted. DragonGirl, Nikkia, and SilverWolf sweatdropped, though none put more feeling into it than DragonGirl. Then, as if on cue, it started to rain.

"Feel good?" Nikkia asked evilly. Saionji let one of his nutzo eyes lay upon her and she silenced.

"That ought to stop you. Kind of like god throwing a bucket of water on the dogs in his backyard." Anjel let one of her evil eyes fall upon the speaker, SilverWolf.

"Well, now that I’ve had my fun ruined, I would like you to drop me off here." Saionji said. DragonGirl stopped the car, and he stepped out, waving solemnly at Anjel. Anjel waved at him, but when he went out of sight, she promptly beat DragonGirl across the back of the head.

"Ow, what was that for!" she said.

"Somehow, I know that rain was your fault!" DragonGirl looked surprised.

"I wasn’t even thinking about anything! I had a song stuck in my head." Anjel looked at her suspiciously.

"What song?" she asked. DragonGirl thought, then gulped. She opened her mouth and burst into song.

"You know I never meant to see you again, but I only passed by as a friend," She sang, "All this time I stayed out of sight, started wondering why, Now I, oohh, now I wish it would rain now, down on me. Ooh, yes I wish it would rain, rain down on me now. Ooh yes I wish it would rain down, down on me, ooh yes I wish it would rain on me. You said I-" She was halted by another whack to the head, one which she knew was coming.

"See?" Anjel said triumphantly, "Now, let me out. I want to catch up with Saionji. I think rain is romantic." Obediently, DragonGirl let her out of the car, yelling after her,

"We’ll pick you up when we come back, OK?" all they got was a dismissing wave of the hand. They drove along in silence for a moment, which was broken by Nikkia.

"You did that on purpose, didn’t you?" She asked. DragonGirl looked at her with mock outrage.

"Why of course not!….Yeah." She said, smiling. Nikkia also effected a scowl, but then smiled evilly. SilverWolf sighed at both of them. Then she noted a sign.

"Hey look!" she shouted, pointing at it, "Sailor Moon. 2 animiles. Let’s go there!" Nikkia shrugged.

"I guess it couldn’t be that horrible.." DragonGirl said. How wrong could she be?
