Purpose My area of expertise is family education. My primary research interest is Islamic education within the family unit. I feel that all of the family members have something to offer each other, and that the roles of teacher and taught are not necessarily limited to adult teaching child, but can sometimes be child teaching adult. I chose to address the family as an educational institution because this is the first organization all people encounter in the process of lifelong learning. As of spring 2001, I am working on my PhD thesis at The Pennsylvania State University in the Department of Educational Theory and Policy. My research includes the Social Dimensions of Education in Islam Exploring Al-Ghazali’s Concept of the Master-Pupil Relationship as a Model for the Reciprocal Rights of Parents and Children. |
