JUNE JULY AUGUST SEPTEMBER OCTOBER
(continued from here).
FRI. 24TH MAY - while my radio/tape thing was still working i.e. last month I made this really great radio compilation & I caught that song "Oops (Oh My)" on Tahu FM the 1st time I heard it - is that song even a hit here tho? I don't even know if the straight chart stations are playing it yet, I haven't been listening to 'em (or eating in the jap restaurant) - anyway, is that the best pop song of this year? no 'cause "Hey Baby" is, maybe that came out last year tho (can't remember). also, i usually hate chart rock but i got this Jimmy Eat World song on there that is really good (!) - i think they just seem "really" good to me because the singing style is not really horrible so i can actually listen to it unlike 100 other equally catchy pop/punk songs by bands with really horrible singing. i hate modern rock singing! also that song (forgot what it's called) has a ACE gitar solo (really!)(it's cool mainly 'cause of the "go into double time for the solo" trick as used in the Kingsmen's "Louie Louie"), do those sort of bands usually? i certainly haven't noticed. anyway right there i got a good concentration of recent radio songs (also incl. "Hey Baby" o'course, my fav) on 1 side of a C-90 w/ "Stoner Witch" by the Melvins on the other side - a good tape! which will probably be destroyed soon enough by 1 of my several malfunctioning tape decks. it's a curse. I would be making compilation tapes by the doz. for all of you-all if not for etc, i swear. oh shit driving down here (i'm @ uni) the copz saw me do the usual mature sensible citizen gesture @ a cop car with no visible cops in it looking at me, i didn't notice tho that there was 2 more cop cars & a whole pig pile of cops on the other side of the rd., oops, duh. Jane & Rich were like, yeah they totally saw you...i better drive home by an alternate route.
THURS. 13th JUNE (in the wee wee hours) - playing with the 5-years-ago-or-something incarnation of a band I used to be in 5 years-or-something ago - Thee Hellfire Club lineup of Lisa/Isolde/me...we did some good stuff. I'd forgotten! almost!
(LATER SAME DAY) We were just remniscing about the Keiji Haino show, Ricko told me "yeah & Min Cheng stole Haino's thing!" & I went What? I never heard about Min Cheng stealing Haino's thing!
FRI. 28th JUNE - there's copies of pretty much all the good Hawkwind records in the new arrivals in Roy's at the moment. Also a Lee Dorsey best-of in the sale bin for 3 bucks. (public service announcement)
THURS. 3rd JULY - attn : John Segovia
TUES. 23rd JULY - '68 comeback special! I just played drums in front of a audience for the 1st time in, I don't know, maybe nearly a year? my "new band" - which has existed for about a week, doesn't have a name yet, & is just Di singing & playing guitar & me drumming - played at this university "women's night" at uni. Yeah it was suppose to be a "women's night" but none of the bands that played had more than 1 woman in them, & also, the woman in the band would maybe not even be like the main person in the band...well whatever...I dunno...whatever, they all seemed to pretty much suck, anyway. Don't tell anyone I said that tho! Our "set" was only 4 songs & then when these other bands played i decided i would go home for a while & go on the internet - see i had to go back to the place at the end 'cause the other bands were using my drums - but my van ran out of gas going up the hill so i turned round & freewheeled down Stuart St & London St 'cause i figured the thing to do is get as far as gravity would propel me in the direction of a gas station & walk the rest of the way but then when i was nearly at the Knox Church intersection i stopped a bit up from the lights to wait for them to change, so i could get some momentum up & roll thru y'see, yeah but then i turned on the ignition so i could use the indicator & then the engine started anyway!

it has been great being in Christchurch 'cause I bin gettin back into playing the rock-a-beatin boogie musick. i'm gettin my chops back playing on this 3-piece (kick drum/snare/crappy toy hi-hat) kit with sticks cut from a tree outside the place.
True tho!
so that was a pretty boring waste of valuable time when i coulda been on the exciting modern interweb but it wouldve been more boring hanging round there waiting for those dumm bands to finish.
I got back there before they did & sat outside in the van writing in my diary & went back in there when they finished & everyone was leaving. Then Di & Beth did a DJ set even though everyone in the rm had left, I kind of just wtd to go home but I did get to hear a fantastic "Left Eye" Lopez song that I hadn't heard before or maybe OK I might've heard it 1x but I hadn't noticed how great it is. Sorry I forgot the name of it already but man it is a great song.
Mick Elborado scored that Lee Dorsey album by the way.
