my background I am 35 and married with a 2 year old son (and another child on the way) & live in the UK. Before starting my first Body For Life programme I had trained on and off since I was @13 (mostly off in the last ten years!!), my best achievement was when I was on a nine month industrial work placement in Paris & lost @28 lbs over a 5 months period being able to take advantage of the French love of two hour lunches which I spent in the gym doing 45 minutes on the stationary bike followed by weights, five days per week, however on reflection I can see this was mostly primarily muscle loss due to the high aerobics intensity. Since then I have slowly increased in weight and fat & reached a all time high of 226 lbs in December 2001. Like many people as my trousers went to the next size I would say it's not really worth buying anymore as I'll start training seriously next week and lose the weight but next week never came. My family also had a history of high blood pressure which I wanted to avoid. Over time we decided that we would like to emmigrate to Australia for the better climate and to give our kids a better lifestyle, and we submitted our applications not expecting to hear anything until 2002 . I accepted the fact that before the medicals I would need me to lose weight and I decided this would be my New Years resolution for 2002. However two days before Christmas I got a letter from the Australian Embassy asking the family to go for medicals. Great! I thought as my mind then turned to starting training and not the typical over indulgence of Christmas, what should I do? I decided to just eat the normal bad stuff you eat at Christmas but in moderation. Then during the days between Christmas & New Year 1 discovered the Body for Life book in a local magazine store, and immediately knew I had to buy it. It seemed to tie together all the bits of information I had read in books, magazines & on the internet relating to weight loss, training and a healthy lifestyle. I started the programme on 31st December 2001 with 226lbs my starting weight. After my first Body For Life programme I weighed 199.6lbs & had managed to lose 26.4lbs of weight and achieve all of my short term (3 month goals). I was now able to wear my 7 year old 32" waist Levi 501 jeans and get out of the comfortable 38" jeans!! After completing the first BFL programme I immediately started on the next where a main goal was is to achieve my six pack stomach.
