Dimension 1982
Internet Edition November 2006

Life Begins When You're Over the Hill

They say time flies when you're having fun. We must be having lots of fun because it seems just like yesterday when we had an issue roasting Iska (Nek na ngayon) for turning 32 years old.

Now it's Ronald's turn. Ronald Elefante celebrated his 40th birthday last November 13, 2005. His loving wife, Francisca (Nek) Torres staged a surprise birthday party for him. Class '82 batch mates who made it were Higee Aguiluz, Eloso Cabanilla and Moises Galo.

Other La Salette alumni present were sister-in-law, Arlene Galo-Torres, Mercedita Valdez-Deslate, Marcelius Tagao and Arnel (?).

They also say that life begins at 40 which was what Eloso mused about when he gave his little speech about Ronald. Nek went for the fun "over the hill" maxim with a song.

The above was how far I got for a November 2005 issue. Ronald had just celebrated his 40th birthday and we could consider his birthday party as a reunion of sorts.

Fast forward to a year later, November 2006, it's Ronald's birthday again, and Dimension has been resurrected for the umpteenth time. Nek has found time from her busy schedule to write articles and updates to drum up interest for our upcoming 25th jubilee in 2007.

Ronald's 40th birthday

Besides Dimension, the class also has a Yahoo group at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/ulshs82/ where updates are posted. So far membership is a disappointing 30+ although we have promoted the site like crazy. The Yahoo group provides more current information because classmates from the Philippines are able to post messages. This was where we learned about the unfortunate events that befell Mandel and Maybel Lim and family. Classmates were then able to send their sympathies and donations to the Lims.

The Yahoo group is not only for serious stuff. Michael Andres uploaded a PowerPoint presentation with funny captions. Nek, having group owner privileges, could have easily deleted the file and banned Mike for life but chose not to. Just shows that she can take it just as well as she dishes it.

So those of you who want to reconnect with your high school friends, we invite you (again) to join our Yahoo group.

Update about LSE batch '78 class reunion

La Salette Elementary School batch 1978 will have a class reunion tentatively scheduled on December 6, 2006 to be celebrated at the LSE campus.

For more information, contact Reunion Coodinators, James Meimban at 0920-546-0522 and Cesareo Flores at 0906-516-9543.

WHERE ARE THEY NOW?

First we found the BJ and the DART. Now, we'd like to see if you can you guess who CFUD (as in seafood) and Apat na Maria are? Clue...they're all girls from 4-A.

There was a group of seven girls from 2-3, originally called WONDER, who was in competition with another group of seven girls who called themselves ROSES. Thanks to Mrs. Letty Salazar, they managed to patch their differences and agreed to bond together. Now, no one can even recall who belonged to the original groups and who represented the letters in the new groups' acronym.

Last month, we asked if you could name them, the GASFAME and JAGPAIL. Can you name them yet? If you do, would you let us know where they are? You can count me out, I am the M in GASFAME, Ma. Francisca! Here's how they looked 24 years ago.

CLICK ON THEIR PICTURES to see if we have found them yet... also to see how much weight they've put on!!!

GEMS from The Journal

I was preparing myself to be weaned from my fondness of writing for Dimension 1982. In this section for November’s issue would have been a reprint of an article I wrote for another one of my groups. I was loosing interest in moving this newsletter on, not only because of my busy schedule but because of the lack of enthusiasm from fellow alumni…

BUT now with a big push from Higee, I am hoping for a resurrection! Our newsletter, Dimension 1982, has been revived on countless occasions, hopefully this time it will survive without first dying!
