Stepansky (Stone) Esther was orphaned as child and raised in or near Korets, Ukraine, coming to the United States about 1904. After Louis died she married David Freedman. The Stepansky's changed their name to Stone in the U.S. Rumor has it that the Stepansky's were descended from the Baal Shem who founded the Hasidic movement. |
