Common Enemies; Bearded Women

Aragorn watches the penalty kill.

March 7, 2004

MORDOR & ROHAN, Middle Earth— After spending a soggy few days in the team bus, a rather cranky Dom-Land Caribou team managed to put aside general grouchiness to beat the arch-enemy Ringwraiths 4-0. Apparently everyone had had just about enough "team togetherness," and took out their pent-up grumpiness on the hapless Nazgul, and the MEHA championship rematch ended up as a rout.

"I'm booking my own transportation for the remainder of this road trip," said Gandalf who had 20 saves in the shutout. The 'Bou goalie's hobbit quota had been exceeded by quite a bit.

"They like loud music," he said. "At all hours."

Loud music notwithstanding, the hobbits contributed two goals, one by Frodo on the power play and the other by Merry.

"Screechy screechy! Screech!" said the WitchKing at the post-game press conference.

"'Bulba bulba saur!' to you too!" said Merry. The general riot that ensued was laboriously put down by MEHA officials but not before Aragorn poked Wraith coach Sauron with a portable microphone.

"I've been wanting to do that for ages," said a remarkably candid King of Gondor. An unnamed source states that forced imprisonment with Gimli has impaired Aragorn's PR-Speak capabilities.

Sam, usually in charge of de-kneeing the Wraiths was still recovering from his self-induced coma. Team trainer Bubbles is still trying to lure him out with pie.

Gimli and Boromir, who had somehow managed to retrieve his spare hockey stick from the jaws of the giant tape monster scored the other two goals.

"Frodo gave me that roll of tape for my birthday," lamented Boromir about the hockey tape.

The 'Bou then travelled back to Rohan where they met up with their goalie.

The brief team chemistry experienced against a hated foe evaporated at the Rohan Rodeo. The 'Bou seemed discombobulated, and ended up losing 3-1.

"They just outplayed us," said Legolas who scored the lone Caribou goal. "Those bearded Rohan women are fierce."

Indeed the biggest mystery of the night was the line of Bearded Rohan Women who scored two of the three Rohan goals.

"The First Rule of Bearded Rohan Women is you do not talk about Bearded Rohan Women," said an unnamed Bearded Rohan Woman.

"Look," said Eomer who potted the other Rider goal, "we don't ask, and to tell the truth, we don't really want to know."

"They don't always wear the beards," said head coach Theoden. "Just on gameday. Perhaps it's for luck."

"It's a truth or dare gone wild," said Eowyn. "That's all I'm allowed to say."

Coach Elrond said the 'Bou will do better next time. Gandalf is still using his own transportation which means he missed the pie. Sam had recovered enough to suggest the team save some for the wizard. It is now under lock and key.

Next up for the 'Bou are the Ithilien Rangers.

Notes II: A slight but egregious oversight has been corrected on the Disaster! page, that is, a link.

Bubbles would like to thank everyone who sent in pictures or links! So thank you thank you from the cavernous depths of my soul!
