Professional Organizations

I am a part of the NCTM (National Council of Teachers of Mathematics), ICTM (Illinois Council of Teachers of Mathematics) and AIMS (Association of Illinois Middle Schools). These organizations have provided me with support, encouragement, inspiration and material for my classroom. They continually help me to develop as a professional educator. NCTM - I attended the NCTM National Conference in 2000 and 2002. Both of these conferences furnished me with new ideas and material that I have used in my classroom such as a "money" reward system for grades and pattern exploration models. AIMS - I co-presented at the state AIMS conference in Tinley Park in October of 2003. I presented a model for teaching students the ISAT Extended Response process for math. This helped build my confidence in teaching my students these vital critical thinking and problem solving skills.
