Educational Philosophy

I believe that before learning can take place, students must be presented with a positive and comfortable learning environment. Students must feel free to share their thoughts and ideas without ridicule from other students or the teacher. The key to developing this environment is classroom management. I have worked hard to develop my classroom management skills so that students know what is expected of them. They know what is acceptable behavior and what is not. I have also been fair and consistent in my discipline policies. This allows my classroom to function as the learning environment it was intended to be.

I believe that every student can learn. I believe that different students are capable of learning at different levels, but I believe that all students can experience success. I believe that learning is a choice made first by the student, second by the teacher. The student must first choose to learn before the teacher can provide that learning. I believe that teachers must encourage this choice by students and help them to take responsibility for their educaiton.

I believe that parents should be involved in the educational process. I believe that the teacher should take concerns to the parents after discussing them with the student and allowing them a chance to improve their situation. I believe that parents have the strongest influence on their children and can help them learn simply by loving them.

I believe that administration should be equally involved with the educational process. Administration should have a strong visible presence with the students. Students should recognize and know the administration. I believe that administration and teachers working closely and consistently together can create a better learning environment for the students.
