A little about Meiling, Shaolin's cousin.

Meiling is Shaolin's cousin, from China. She does not appear in the manga version of CCS. We figure that she was put in to forward the possibility between Shaolan and Sakura, and perhaps give a kicker to Li's background in China. (It's relevant to see how his whole family had trained him for the Card Catching moment.

 Meiling is ridiculously attached to Shaolin, and sees Sakura as her rival for him. You see, when they were a little younger (not that they aren't young now!) they made a promise that they would be engaged until they found someone they liked better. Meiling seemed to stick to it obsessively, but Li was not so serious. Especially when he realised that here in Japan, there were a couple people of interest to him! Meiling is also a Card Captor, and a very good fighter. Her hobbies are complaining about Japan, making Chinese food, following poor Shaolin around and shopping. She also claims to be a singer, but I find her voice to be slightly obnoxious.

Meiling's funniest moments are her fights with Keroberos, especially in the beginning! She'll say something and take control and the Kero says 'Let's put that aside' and blows her off. That is just soooo funny!

What do we think of Li Meiling?

Richard: Doesn't she remind you of Chibi-usa? Usagi's hair and that selfish Chibi-usa personality. I like her when she fights; she is the best fighter, just like Li. But other than that she's talentless and selfish and I dislike her.

Viscay: One word: brat.

Riki: UNLIKE MY CO-WORKERS…… I like Meiling a lot. She's very pretty and dreamy, and certainly DOES have heart. She loves Shaolan, that's why she's so protective over him, but she loves Sakura, too, enough to give up what she loves for her. She knows her place, and doesn't feel rejected or discarded because of it. That takes strength and guts. Fine, so the boys don't find her amusing. I sure do.
