A bit on the name: Tomoyo means wisdom of the world, another translation might be tact, or the knowledge of high society. The name Daidouji is very prestigious, it would come from a long, historical family line.
Tomoyo Daidouji is Sakura's best friend and cousin, and originally the only one who knew about Sakura's Card Catching duties. Her obsession is filming Sakura and making all her bizarre costumes. Perhaps Tomoyo has a crush on her best friend, similar to Sonomi and Nadeshiko. But I think the crush really belongs to Touya, for whom Tomoyo blushes whenever she sees him look cute. ^_^ Tomoyo's obsession with the Card Captor thing might be considered unhealthy, but so might our obsession with manga and my personal second-grade obsession with Rainbow Brite. So what can you say?
Tomoyo, in accordance with her family name, is very rich. She has a troop of bodyguards to take her out at night (coincidentally all female... terribly CLAMP.) and obviously the funding for her extravagant use of fabric to make Sakura's innovative *cough* costumes. Though Tomoyo is good at everything and anything, she especially excels in the field of music, and is a fabulous singer.
What do we think of Tomoyo Daidouji?
Richard: I love Tomoyo. She's one of my top three favourites. She's intellectual, intelligent, artistic and plays with video cameras, just like me! What a great girl. *droooooool*
Viscay: I don't really like Tomoyo that much. She nice and all, but I find her obsessive and annoying and rather clingy. I wouldn't get rid of her in the show, but I dunno… I just don't like her.
Riki: Tomoyo is a sweetheart. She's a lot like what I see Nadeshiko being when she was young… elegant, polite and refined. I really adored the message she sent out to kids about politeness and generosity, and was absolutely outraged when I found out what kind of a nasty character she has in the American version. Pooh pooh on you, Nelvana.
