About Touya's name: Touya means peach blossom arrow.

Touya, Sakura's older brother, is in eleventh grade. He likes to play football (soccer to Americans) as a school activity. Touya likes to tease Sakura about her height, her cooking skills, and pretty much everything else. But truly he's very protective over his little sister. Touya used to be able to see his mother's ghost, after she died. But as he grew older, he saw her less frequently. If you consider that children believe much more easily in things like that; as Touya lost that naive innocence, he lost his belief in his mother's ghost. However, residual powers for supernatural sight still hang around, which is why he suspects something of Sakura and her Card Catching duties.

Touya jumps from job to job and too coincidentally bumps into Sakura everywhere. I don't know what that means: can't he keep his job or is he just too easily bored? Touya has this huge, obvious crush on Yukito but has a bit of trouble confessing, though he tries and is a little more honest towards the end of the series. I won't tell you what happens, though! Of course coming into play is the obnoxious Nakuru who absolutely adores him but we have yet to find someone who adores her. She messes up everything. Touya is a little more talented than we at first gave him credit for. Not only can he juggle all these jobs and take care of his sister, but he's also a great football player and can play the piano beautifully as well, thanks to help from his mother when he was young.

What do we think of Touya Kinomoto?

Richard: This guy needs to settle down! Job after job, open-ended situation after another, he doesn't seem to know where he's going and what he wants out of his life. I love him; he's a great character but sometimes his indecision bothers me. We never really know where he stands in the whole mess; it's like he's an omniscient figure and we don't know what he knows and what he doesn't. He needs to be straight with Yuki (though he tries, I give him that credit!) tell Sakura that he either knows or doesn't, and get the mother thing off his back. He's growing up now; it's time that he behave a little more like an adult.

Viscay: Touya is a little too prep-boy for my wall of admiration and fame, but he's a great, selfless person who needs to get out there and be a little more honest about who he is. He's good looking, strong, caring, and important in everything he does, and I hope he gets somewhere with Yuki; I really do! Towards the middle of the third series it gets really cute.

Riki: I never really understood the purpose of Touya until the series really got started, but now that he's around and part of everything, I wouldn't have it any other way. He ties a lot of things together simply by being who he is, and I admire his tact and elegance. As an older sibling myself, I find him quite reasonable about the 'kaiju' thing; maybe I was too hard! ^_^;

I'm kind of pissed off about the pop-up box, but so far they're still the best provider we've found.
