Nine Star Chart Theory
The Nine Star Chart shown below is for 1996. It shows the numbers 1 through 9 which represent stars or different phases of energy located at the eight directions of the earth. Every year, the cycles of the Nine Stars change. For 1996, we are in the Fourth Grand Phase; note the number four in the center of the Nine Star Chart. The stars are energies associated with the five elements: fire, earth, water, wood and metal.

HOW TO USE THE NINE STAR CHART
I choose 1997 as a retrospect for your assessment of the events that occurred.
The Nine Star Chart gives us insight into how annual planetary moments affect us on Earth. The chart can be interpreted many ways and can be applied to global, national, as well as personal levels. This following are some examples:
Globally, this year, the combination of stars or energies in the northwest, northeast, north and south induce positive changes and progress. Nations such as Canada, Japan, Finland, Russia, Brazil, Indonesia and Vietnam may experience economic boom due to increase in transportation, shipping and immigration. However, because the 9 or fire star appears in the northwest, the northwest nations may also experience calamity related to fire such as explosions, crashes or riots. This is similarly true in the southern nations where double 3 and 7 show belligerent activities such as bomb threats or terrorism.
In relation to the US, north-western, north-eastern, northern and southern cities such as Seattle, Boston, Chicago and Dallas are likely to have an influx of immigrants from the southeast who bring money and scholastic fame to these to the regions. The northwest regions however, should be aware of travel accidents. When travelling to these areas, it is best to check the monthly Nine Star Chart and select a travel date that has the least volatile stars.
The energies in the west, southwest, east and southeast tend to be unstable and vulnerable to problems and illness. This is especially true for western regions where double 5 indicates invasive and volatile forces. In relation to the US, California may be violated and forced to take legal action or suffer disease, flood or fire disasters that cause property loss or health problems.
On a personal level, those born in the Western Direction Pattern with offices or homes with a northwest entry, bedroom or office should see growth and expansion. However, this may also be accompanied by temper tantrums, dryness of nose or throat and potential fire accidents. Two golden lions can be placed facing northwest to stimulate positive energies while the wood element such as the colours green and blue can be used in the northwest room to neutralize negative effects.
Those of you with a western bedroom or office may undergo similar influences. You may enjoy public notice and recognition along with increased business, but also need to be extra careful with lending money and clients that have bad credit. To guard yourself from malice, place a set of three bronze chi ling (Chinese mythical guardian that is a mix between a dragon, horse and a lion) in the west corner facing west. You can also use wood or water energies to neutralize negative energies in the west by using the colours green, blue, purple, black or grey in the west room.
Generally speaking, 1997, the year of the Ox is a year of universal change and reformation. There will likely be communication on unprecedented socio-economic and political issues between Western and Eastern nations that trigger intense negotiations. Although there may be initial conflicts, better understanding and mutual benefit should be achieved.
On the whole, there will be a stronger integration of Eastern philosophies and Western technologies. This timely synthesis is greatly needed as there a tendency for people to be vulnerable to illness this year. So, it does not hurt to treat yourself better, exercise regularly, take herbs and eat more natural foods that boost your immune system.
These are some ways to deal with the possible effects that the cosmic forces may have on us this year. Of course, the Nine Star energies are only one aspect of fengshui, you should also consider the energies created by you, your house and your environment. However, by annually adjusting yourself to these influential energies definitely contribute to your well-being.
