					Hitomi is the star on the track team. She has a secret crush on a boy who is also on the track team, Amano. During one of her practices, she has a vision. She see's a boy in front of her. He is an image, so she passes right through him. She passes out and visions two suits (one being Escaflowne) fighting. When she wakes up, she is greeted by Amano. She shows him her pendant which her grandmother gave her. It swings once every second. He starts to tell her something when her friend, Yukari, barges in and interrupts. Later, when Hitomi and Yukari are walking together, Yukari decides to tell her friend that she overheard that Amano is moving away over-seas. Hitomi goes home to read her Tariot cards. She draws the Serpent Ace and the Card of Distant Seperation. Yukari encourages her to tell Amano how she feels about him, so she makes a bet with Amano that if she can run the sprint the 100 meters within 13 seconds (She has never done it in less than that), that he would be her first kiss as Yukari encourages her.. She is doing good, but then she gets the same vision of the boy in front of her; only this time, he is real and she runs into him. He carries a long sword and speaks a foreign tongue that only Hitomi can understand. A few seconds later, a dragon appears as well. The dragon tires of trying to get the boy (Van) and takes chase after Hitomi, Yukari, and Amano. Van chases after the dragon and gets in front of it. Hitomi has another vision of Van being killed by the dragon's tail from above. She warns him barely in enough time and he jumps backward as the tail slashes off his armor. Van sees his chance and slays the dragon. He cuts out its heart which is called an Energist. As he holds it in his hand, it starts to glow. The glow consumes him and Hitomi and they start to rise into the air. When they wake up, Hitomi can see the Earth and Moon in the air. Van tells her that she is now in Gaea. Will she ever be able to return to her home?? They are surrounded by Men that bear a resemblance to wolves. She finally realizes what the Serpent and Distant Seperation cards really mean.
