For many winter is long cold nights, for others it is pure delight. As nature goes into its overdue rest, the weather brings about a refreshing zest. The leaves have fallen and Jack Frost has begun to decorate, with icy brush and palette he creates patterns ornate. Old man winter, he starts to blow, winds from the north that are so cold. Soon the ponds will turn to ice, the grounds will be covered with snow so nice. Then comes the fun with skating and sledding. Plus snowball fights that are more fun than threatening. Hot apple cider warms up our insides, soon many snowmen will arrive. Much delight will soon be in the eyes, of children young and old as Christmas time arrives. Then comes the time for the year to end, but how we look forward for the New Year to begin. Winter will linger a few weeks more, as we wait the decision of some old folklore. What will be the groundhogs say? See his shadow or not on this day. Oh the fate he holds for winter's cold breath, as he wanders out into the snow to make the test. For in a short time we must bid our goodbye, to winter so that spring may arrive. |
