JoEllen (syracusejo) I know it has been said - over and over - but the grobanite community is truly a group of caring and loving individuals. I met so many nice people this past weekend. Colleen and her mom, Jackie, Lisa and her husband Jason & friend, Jeanne & her husband, Val, Mi Connie & NY Connie, Chad, Gladys, Maryanne - so many. (please forgive me if I have forgotten anyone's name) I would like to say thanks to Tami - if it wasn't for you, my husband Tom and I would not have been a part of this amazing experience. And of course thanks to Lisa - for taking on an enormous task. A job well done, Lisa. The whole weekend was filled with laughs and shared stories about our man - Josh. It was so much fun to hear them all. On the day of the concert as we approached
the Hawthorne Tent, I couldn't believe my eyes. Then on to the concert. Details regarding
the concert have been covered, But I have to say I have never been so
captivated by such an incredible talent. Listening to Josh in person is
an absolute must for every Grobanite. He honestly touches your soul. (Val-
you were so right) I must add, watching the master - John Williams was awesome also. When the orchestra played as ET was shown on the big screen, my husband leaned over to me and said - I forgot the orchestra was playing!!! It was great. And then after this unbelievable concert - our incredible Josh, took the time to visit with his Grobanites. It was late, and he was obviously effected by the unbearable humidity. (as you can tell by his hair in the pictures posted) But- still, he came to show us how much he really appreciates each and everyone of us. He is so down to earth, sweet and witty. How can we not be in love with this man? I also got to meet and take pictures with Zach and Tariq. It was so kind of them to stay and talk with us. I didn't meet the other band members that were there, but I understand from those who did, they were also very nice. I didnt want to leave. I didn't want it to end.
Bonnie (SONOBABE) I am so poor at writing and putting
my feelings into words, but I'll give it a try. I think I posted some
of this in another thread, so sorry for the duplication.
Ricki (voice lips eyes) One brief but funny story I can tell is of the ladies room just outside the tent after Josh's performance. As you know, the ladies room line is always long and notoriously slow. I was at the back of the line with Cynthia (Dove Love). She was suggesting that I ask my husband Ray to guard the men's room door so we could sneak in there. At that moment, Lisa announced that Josh was on his way to the tent. I yelled in to the bathroom, "OK ladies let's do some serious peeing in here! Hut, Hut, let's move it, Josh is coming." I never saw a ladies room line move so fast. Doors were swinging, toilets were flushing in rapid succession, Grobies were moving at break neck speed to do their thing and get back to their tables. Just as it was my turn, I heard a huge roar from the tent. Josh had arrived. Needless to say, I ran cross legged back into the tent just as Josh approached the podium. It was worth it! He was as warm and sweet as he could be. He just makes you love him more and more each time you see him. If I could find out Jack and Lindy's formula for a wonderful son, I would bottle it and sell it. That stuff would sell really well in my town!
Chris (joshfan4life) On to the M&G (after concert)..I'm standing at the entrance to the tent..I see a golf cart hurdling it's way towards me..is it..I see dark curly hair...big smile. ...it's..... *** JOSH *** ~~We talk,...I slip my arm around his back..and smile in complete joy! ~~Josh is hustled to the podium,& these were my comments & questions..which he graciously answered.. Me: Nice haircut
Josh!!
Ellen (OctOpal1001) About the tent?????? Hmmmmmmmm. First
I should apoligize to the Tanglewood people for standing on the chair
! But at 4'11" even though our table was fairly close to the podium,I
don't think I would have been able to see that cute little face. Which
by the way was shaved, his big boy razor thing, too funny. He had everyone
laughing. When he was talking about Chess I said " How about a sample? He
kind of went what?,but then sang like a line !!!!!! Ahhhhh at least I
can say I heard something from Chess. He is as everyone says a real class
act.He was even talking to Lisa's 2 little girls he liked their curly
head tatoos(temporary). He said when he gets his he'd put it on his forehead.
Thanks alot Josh, that's where my daughter wanted to put hers and I told
her I'd kill her if she did!
Michele (Michele531) One of the things someone yelled out to Josh was "how's Grandma?" I don't remember his words exactly, but Josh responded that she is on the internet now....and something to the effect of how she started out very wary with just "hi" in the subject of her emails....but now he's getting emails from her with the subject "Whassss up?" Is Josh witty or what?
Kay (dkayg) Back to the tent for more M&G. Here comes Josh, Brian & David (along with a deputy sheriff) in a golf cart. Lisa asked everyone to please be seated and was obeyed. Josh took the podium and Joshed us for 15 minutes or so. There were no autographs or personal photos (except for a few children who were allowed up on stage--OMJ, Josh is just so wonderful with children!), but he was just so charming and greatful and overwhelmed by everything. He answered shouted questions and laughed and goofed with us! He was Just Josh! Brian said a few words of thanks and David asked us if we liked An Affair to Remember, which of course, we roared our appreciation. Too soon they had to be off to another (probably WB) reception. We waved and shouted Josh off! Paul taped his entire visit and (with Daryl's assist) we will get it up in Media for you. One aside about this visit by Josh. He was of course as you know, clean shaven (he endured some teasing about that), but OMJ the curls. Can you just imagine what all that humidity did to those curls! They were so tight--like cork screws! THUD! Those awesome curls! Zach, Tarik, Craig & Eric hung around for a LONG TIME signing and photos for anyone interested. Such wonderful, friendly fellows they are. Back to business --wrapping up and announcing the auctions and raffles! The David S & DFF auction went pretty well as far as I could tell and let's all hope that they made LOTS OF MONEY for these two extremely worthwhile causes. I can guarantee you that many Grobies left with some pretty awesome Josh autographed stuff! TW finally started to kick us out at 1:30 (we only had the tent officially 'til 1 am). But you know Grobies, talking, talking, hugging, laughing, howling, more hugging, and many, many pictures! Much hilarity ensued! Clean up crew finally left the building at 2:15ish. Tired but sooooo incredibly happy!
Maggie (justmaggie) As we were all shouting out questions to Josh, this guy said, "I have a picture of you when you were 10 years old!" Josh looked rather startled at first and then said, "I know you!" I guess they went to camp together one summer when they were 10. (It was a little too loud to hear the whole story - someone correct me if I got it wrong). Josh said his parents were really sorry they couldn't be there. I think the reason is that Chris leaves for college next week and they're busy getting him ready. Someone asked about Josh's grandmother (who some people met at the Hollywood Bowl) and he smiled and said, "Grandma is fine." He told us he's finally gotten her used to the 'net and now she sends him emails. I asked him what her board name is - just got a laugh. Maybe SHE is the RandomLlama!! You've read it here over and over
- Josh was wonderful despite the incredible heat, humidity and technical
snafu! When I think back to Saturday night the one thing I keep coming
back to is - he's REAL! No false pretenses, no artificial hype, just a
heck of a lot of talent and sincerity! No wonder we all love him so much.
Myra (LetMeFallIfIMustFall) We floated back to the M&G tent (on our personal little "cloud 9")... and were SOOO happy when Josh made his appearance there. I'm just so happy I remembered to breathe! (I sometimes forget to do that at the mere thought of him ). Josh was so personal, addressing a couple of hundred people as though he knew us all personally and loved each one of us. We, as a community, are intensely blessed: he shares with us his music, his talent, his time and his compassion. Could we ask for more???? (well, okay... a hug would be cool! I live for the day I get a hug from JOSH!). Wanna hear my personal favorite Joshisms from his time spent with us? Thought you would!!! Okay, here goes: 1. When David Romano handed him a bottle of water: Josh's reaction: "Wawa!!!" (with that huge smile of his)! 2. The shaving story: When asked about that shave NYConnie spoke of: Josh said something pretty close to "I use an electric razor cause I'm such a 2 year old!.. but today I shaved like a big boy!" (Also referred to himself as looking like "Grizzly Adams" with that scruffy chin!) 3. When Lisa's daughter (so sorry,
I've forgotten her name but she was adorable!!) talked to him (she's maybe...6
yrs. old...?) and here's how the conversation went: 4. The "housewarming party" question: Someone in the crowd shouted out "hey Josh, can we all come to your penthouse for a housewarming?" His response: You gotta picture this...it's TOOOO cute!!!! Josh says nothing but holds up one hand and starts pointing to each person, counting us under his breath! (much laughter!!!...are you getting that...or maybe you had to be there). Then he says "too many of you!" and again gesturing, he divides the crowd in half with his hands and says (pointing to the half of the crowd to his left) "Just you guys can come." (I was standing to his right! ). The left half cheered unsympathetically.... Then he said, motioning to the half of the crowd to his right: "and the next night, you guys can come!" YAYYY! (I'm there Josh... provide details...date, time, address...) And my final fave moment from the visit with Josh: When Josh had to leave, he was being whisked away by Brian and team and I tried to shove a gift toward him that I really wanted him to get... Brian told me that they couldn't take it... no room to carry things...sorry.... Well, being a good obedient Grobanite, I shoved it a little further toward Josh and yelled "Josh...this is for you" and he GRABBED that package right out of my hands!!!!, jumped onto his golf cart with the team was gone into the night.... yikes...need CPR....the memories are too much...forgetting to breathe again!!!!! Connie got her hug!!!! She was seated right up front, along the path where Josh walked from the podium back to the golf cart and as he started to leave, she said something like "Josh, do I get my hug?" So, of course, he obliged!! That dear Connie has Grobandust floating all around her! Don't you just love it??? I do! I LOVED being at Tanglewood!!!!!!!
Lisa (FallingwithJosh) I was standing next to the man while
he was in the tent... "Sing something for us, Josh!" He sang a bar or so of...."ANTHEM!" "No man...No---" I have to admit...a squeal escaped my lips! I can't wait for my next chance to see him singing something I haven't heard before! Keep working on it, Josh. My ticket is in hand! I'll post more when I can think straight! I love you all...you rock! I had a BLAST!
Kelly (kwilcox89) Some of my favorite quotes from his
speech/Q&A at the tent
The energy you guys brought became the energy throughout the whole place "Something tells me you guys are drinking more than water in here..." "Boy when you guys throw a party, you throw a PAR-TAY!" When someone asked about his shave, Oh yeah theres a story I shave with an electric razor because well Im a 2 year old and cant shave myself! But the last two days Ive shaved like a big boy! When Judy (jhonorat) asked if when the housewarming party would be for us to see his new penthouse, Uh, I dont think youd all fit . OK, just THIS half of the tent! Everyone on our side screamed . And THIS half the next night! The other side screamed . When looking at our buttons, It looks like that what does TGI Fridays call it with all the stuff on the uniforms? I yelled out FLAIR! Yeah, thats it! Flair! (it pays to watch the movie Office Space a few times!) When he saw Lisas daughters tattoo, Shes got a squiggly face on her leg!
Kris (MoodyBluz) My quick story is this. I was in the back when Josh came in..and wanted to get close enough to take a picture.. I looked over and saw the empty golf cart, and grabbed my camera and figured "what got outta the golf cart, is gonna get back in"...I essentially stood in the way as Josh approached back to the cart. I felt like time stood still. My
first Josh moment...haha.. What a night! Enjoy counting teeth.
Its not my best but it was so much fun!
Kim (KimAnderson) After the show. I met up with one of the grobanites holding the lil meet n great thingie. She had to pee really bad, so my mother and I followed her to the tent (where Josh'd be after the show). We walked around the tent for a little bit and noticed all of the bidding prizes. They were incredible looking. Very artistic and creative. I bought two t-shirts, a sweat shirt, bumper sticker, and a llama! It was awesome! I ever got to take home a whole set of Josh Groban Balloons! It was so cool! After I bought the "goods." Josh came strolling in on his golf cart. I nearly fainted! He looked so gorgeous that night. Seeing him in person was a total shock. I didn't think it was real! I took some crazy pictures and got all of what he had to say on video. (Digital cams work wonders!) As all of the fellow Grobanites hounded the poor sexy, beautiful, gorgeous, singer...I followed them up to the podium to watch his lips move...haha. As the crowd settled down, I yelled out to him and he responded looking at ME, with a sexy, "yes?" then I went on to say "I love you. You're gorgeous." and all of the Grobanites laughed and he asked "Anyone else?" and laughed himself! It was so awesome. I had such a blast......
Debbi (DewStiles) Everyone headed back to the tent in their little Josh glows and we were barely back when Lisa announced he was on the way! I grabbed my video camera and gave my friend the regular camera and we shot away! (Unfortunately she couldn't get close enought to get more than very tiny head shot of him) I'm sure we were all longing to get just a little closer but we were very well behaved for such a large and enthusiastic crowd. After Josh left came my special moment: Valerie and I were outside phoning Kat (JOGRO4EVER) to fill her in and suddenly out of the mist came four guys: first I noticed a very tall man with a bald head, then a much shorter one with a bald head.... I just stood there and started pointing and jumping a bit in excitement. I threw the phone to Valerie and ran for my camera, which I finally got turned on just as they walked by, which is where my "chasing the band" pic. comes from! I yelled and they turned and all
smiled, oh they have wonderful smiles! I got a couple of pictures and
autographs in my program and then Angela went up and bought one of Zach's
cds and had him autograph it for ME!! Everyone was so wonderful and friendly,
we left there floating on the energy. We went back to Nancy and Sue's
room for a while, reliving things. Julie and I finally left sometime after
3:30, quite reluctantly. You wish the "Joshness" could go on
forever! Can't wait to do it again!
Carla (BertBird) We then headed back to the tent and as previously stated Josh, Brian and David and a sheriff (body guard) drove into the tent and greeted us. He was on the podium for 15-20 minutes, I took some pics (waiting for them to be developed) -it was like one big conversation - Josh really does appreciate all that we do for him - he was truly amazed at we all did at the M&G. It is just incredible how one common denominator can make magic happen. It was literally Grobania coming alive! All I can say is, Josh, you are incredibly gifted and you truly bring out the best in people. Josh then left and slowly the other band members arrived. First saw some cute guy with some other people hanging around the entrance of the tent - went over to greet them and it was Craig, with is Dad, Grandfather and Grandmother. Spoke with them for a bit. Chatted with Craig, made sure he felt welcomed - got autograph and photo-op - walked him over to enjoy a cup of coffee. What a really nice guy. Saw Eric (he remembered me from The Red Lion), eventually got his autograph and photo-op too. Then noticed that Tarik was standing there - of course had o seize that opportunity for autograph and photo-op (which I told him "model for me Tarik", he's so cool. Ahh, I see Zach (again! and he remembers me by name!) told him I would love to treat him to breakfast - too bad it will be a late night and we'll all sleep late! Now Grobies I was just being a friendly Grobanite, that's all! But of course - photo-op and autograph! I had grobandust falling all over me that night and I told each and every band member that I would see them on tour! No doubt I will meet with them again! And you never know, maybe some cute curly haired man with bottomless lungs will be around too!
Brie
(BrieanneElise) i walked right past
josh in the tent, waved, and said "hi"....and he didn't even
see me.
Beadie (Bries Mom) The Tanglewood M & G was the most incredible thing I have ever experienced. Many times large crowds are intimidating and I just want to go home.. This very large crowd was warm, inviting and pleasant. No wonder my daughter loves Grobania. She was so happy to meet everyone. I am trying not to gush but everything was amazing. The huge tent, people helping one another to set up and decorate, the delicious food presented so beautifully, kind and helpful staff made for an awesome experience before we even attended the concert. My husband (Mr Brie) was thrilled to see John Williams perform with the Boston Pops - a childhood dream.. Brie's friend, Sheri was able to see Yo Yo Ma perform (she is a cellist also) and Brie saw Josh Groban, live! Me, I was soaking up the good josh that was being spread around. Lisa did a most incredible job and made it look easy. How well I know the logistics of getting x number of people moving and doing what they said they would do. Congratulations Lisa. You make women proud of their gender! Uh oh, I am starting to gush.
Jessi (grobiefreak) After the concert, my mom and I walked
back to the tent. We weren't sure when, if, Josh was showing up so we
just hustled it on over. We were some of the first to get back, but soon
after Gladys and Ruthie showed up. We gushed about the concert and then
Gladys and I went back to the bathrooms. Gladys had whispered in my ear
Josh was coming in an hour so I was like oohh ok, so we can kinda chill
for a minute. I went back to the tent. Lisa McCabe got up to the podium
next thing I know, and is saying "I hear a curly haired guy is headed
our way!". I had time to gasp and then all of a sudden to the side
of the tent a golf cart pulls up and HE WAS THERE!!!! Of course it was
instant mob, so Lisa asked everyone to sit back down and he'd come in.
Ruhtie and I went to our table and he managed to get inside and up to
the podium at the front. Most people just pressed up front, and we didn't
see Gladys until she was all up in front. So, the flashes were insane,
and he said "Oooh this is overwhelming!". but he was grinning.
He looked great, though I had to get up on a chair, I could hardly see
over people (I'm maaaybe 5'1''). -Someone asked if we could have a party at his new house and then he pretended to count on his fingers, then he said "I don't think we'll all fit! Well, this half can come!" We cheered, we were on that half. The other side groaned. heh heh. "And this half next time" Aaaww!! -He took pictures with Lisa McCabe's youngest daughter, I think the one you posted Richelle, and another little girl. Gawd that man is too sweet! -He said My December will be on the album. Then someone asked "for the kids?" and he was like yeeaahh for the kids. I guess they forget he IS one? David Romano asked if we though Josh should record A Love Affair to Remember. uhm YESS!!! Holy Crap people, my mind is going dead. I'll come back to what else went on when he was talking to us all. I was AGAIN so impressed with his ease and confidance, his generosity, and his SENSE OF HUMOR. He is amazing. I think Brian was starting to get nervous as people kept moving closer, so eventually Josh had to go. He managed to get back in his golf cart and ride off. I was breathless and THUDDING like anything. Some guy had a picture when JOsh was 10 years old so Ruthie and I went up to the podium to see it. It hit me in a minute that this was where JOSH WAS STANDING! then I saw....the MICROPHONE! THE microphone he was just talking into. Oh Lord, we screamed and grabbed it. The mike was still on and people were staring like 'Someone get them a padded room' THUD moments baby!! We managed to get a grip and sit down. After a little while we were mingling around and all that and then we noticed that Zach and Tariq had walked in at the other end of the tent. My mom waved me over so I grabbed my camera and ran. They are such great guys! Tariq is huge! 6'5''! So, when I took a picture with him at first he bent down, but in the next one with my mom, (who's shorter than me lol) he stood on his toes. Thaaat's nice. It sort of hit me that this was JOSH'S BAND! and I was chatting it up but they were just so comfortable and sweet! Eric Holden came in after a minute, but did ya'll know that from the back he looks like Josh? If you've already lost your marbles anyway.... I was like Ruthie pssst! LOOK! and we grabbed each other, but no, we got it. It wasn't HIM. lol. He is quite a hottie himself though. mmhmm. We got pictures (many lol) and an autograph. Then I was like, I can't resist. I told Ruthie to come over with me and I asked him, Can I touch your hair? It looks just like Josh's and you know, uhm he's not here. He was so cute, at first he said NO!! my friends are over there, they;ll make fun of me all night. We were like pleeeassee? and then he said, OK OK real quick. So, we did. and Oooh until we said Josh he was cool with it, then he was like- aight. that's too wierd. I think I left there a little Eric high too.
Connie (ConnieG) The wonderfully talented Zachary
Provost -- he's the man! He was dancing to music during Kim's performance.
Fun and nice guy! Tariqh -- all 6'5" of him. I'm
5'2 -- barely can make it into the same picture. Has a great smile and
is just great to talk to! Eric -- told a funny story how one
time somebody talked to him for 20 minutes, and then realized that he
wasn't Josh Groban. Those curls I guess. He is very nice, kinda quiet.
Someone asked him to sign their program and he was like "Aw, you
don't want my signature, I'm not famous..." (what a QT).
Kim (Georgianite) Josh was great!!!!!!!!!! , I loved the whole concert! , I pretty much stood the entire time!..LOL, after he finished every song I jumped up..that was my excersize..lol well needless to say the concert ended and i noticed that what lil voice I had managed to save before hand was now gone, cause i screamed so much for him! ..I didnt mean too, but Josh has a way of making spontanious noises come out of a person! So after that we headed for the tent..and I and my mom and chad were following a sea of people ...but I find out that it was not grobies we were following and we ended up lost in the woods!!!!!!!!! so while Josh was mingleing at the tent I was freaking out Blair Witch style in the woods!..* i'm not too fond of the woods *..and because i missed josh's apperance in the tent, I hate the wood immensely ..lol But it's ok, I got there in time to hear him say " thanks Guys, Goodnight"..and then see the golf cart drive off. I was like.." motion to say something but nothing came out"..LOL Well after that I get ready for my performance, I was so nervous!!!!!!!!! , not because of the size of the crowd but because of the people ..it wasnt like a bar scene where it was a two drink minimum but it was " The Grobanites!!!!" ..My Family!! , This crowd actually mattered to me! So as I'm trying to compose myself, I'm walking around and mingleing and then i go over with Brie *I love Brie* and we talk to turak *Josh's guitar guy*and I see he has a Poster of me! ..yeah i was about to thud!, I was like " no Way!!!!" ..LOL And so I spoke with him and got a pic with him and then judy had come up and said " This girl probably looks a bit familiar to you..and he looked at me and then she pointed to my pic, and he said..OMG, HI!. , I was like Hey !!! !!! and I got my hug form him!! and asked if he was going to check out my site, and he said "Definitly"..LOL! * Yeah!!!* Then I was being announced and I had to excuse myself. OMG, THANK Y'ALL SO MUCH FOR THE
RESPONCE I GOT!!! So I ran to the Podium! I had wrote a remix of Britney Spears "Baby One More time" and made it into.."Josh Groban Is so Damn Fine" But My voice was so shot that I really could get it all out..so i did the most of it and then cut it off and just went improve on the crowd, and I have to tell you, out of all my shows I've done, and all the crowds I have performed to , ths was one that really hit the book for me!, I love the grobanites!!!!!!!!!! I was so overwhelled by the support and love in that tent , it was so amazing!! I can't type all y'alls names down, cause i can't remember them all , but i remember the faces that i saw up there and i scouted the room , y'all are all amazing people and I love ya so much! So a Huge thank you to everyone who was there and routed me on and to My Cyber squad that was cheering in the chat room!
Michelle (Americanpye66) My story is about seeing Josh in a golf cart. Let me explain. I was at Tanglewood, and even though Josh did come to the Hawthorne Tent (where the Grobanites had their Meet and Greet), I did not see him there. Let me start from the beginning. After Josh had performed, quite a few of the Grobanites waited outside the shed for Josh to come out and sign autographs. Well, after about 10 to 15 minutes of waiting, a man came outside and told us that Josh had left. I thought to myself, "Well, OK...I'll just walk back to the tent and see what's going on there." So, walking back to the tent, I stopped off to talk to some people. As I started walking back to the tent again, I realized I was lost. The Tanglewood grounds themselves are absolutely enormous, kind of like a park, with lots of trees, bushes, etc. It was a gorgeous place for a concert. Also, the lighting there is very dim, and it was a little difficult to see where I was going. Well, it turns out I had walked quite aways from the tent, while trying to find my way back, I hear a very dull roar...I realized it was the Grobanites welcoming Josh into the tent....I took my shoes off and started walking extremely fast...you see, I wasn't use to the blisteringly high humidity there and I felt like I couldn't breath. By the time I could see the tent I heard people cheering and clapping and I knew I had missed him. I was upset, but, OK about it. So, I found the path to the tent and started along it. After I had walked along the path for awhile, I see a woman up ahead of me...she was probably 200 or more feet ahead me...All of a sudden she yells, "Hey Josh!!"...So I start looking around quite excitedly expecting to see Josh walking with his management and/or security. I didn't see anyone else but the woman, until I see a golf cart coming down the path straight towards me and making a very strange dragging type sound. As the golf cart gets closer to me, I realize that I'll have to step off the path in order to let the cart get by. I moved over onto the dirt, the path itself, was only about 7 or 8 feet wide, if that. As the golf cart got within about 10 or 15 feet of me, I realized that Josh was on it. He was sitting in the middle of two people. There were also 2 or 3 others guys on the golf cart, Josh's security, maybe? Please remember the light was very minimal light and it was about 11:00 or so at night. I see Josh, he has his head turned slightly and is talking to someone in the back of the golf cart. Now, you're probably thinking that I would have said something like, "Hey Josh!" or "Hi Josh!"...but, I didn't, because I know they wouldn't have stopped. (And I totally understand why they couldn't) As the cart passed me, I noticed, the moonlight shone down on Josh's face as it broke through the trees...it was a very beautiful, yet fleeting moment that I'll never forget. One other rather funny aspect of this story is that the golf cart itself was way over capacity and that's why it was making that dragging sound. And the fact that all of those men were in one golf cart made me smile, it was really quite a site! Even though I could have kicked myself for missing Josh in the tent, it was still a wonderful evening, that I'll always remember. |
