Supernatural
~By Lovely-chan~
Sachio ran down the long
white corridors of the hospital, the tall walls seemed endless to
anyone as small as he was. He was panting heavily as he stopped in
one corner. “Uff…that was close.” He suddenly smiled and slid down
to the floor looking at the distant ceiling. “Mareo…”
He was so concentrated
on his thoughts he didn’t heard the footsteps coming toward him.
When he saw the pair of black shoes right before him he slowly
looked up. Long strong legs covered with black, a long white gown,
nametag reading Dr. Kin with his picture on the side. Sachio gulped
immediately, and then looked up to the brown eyes questioning him.
“Sachio, you know it’s forbidden to sit on the floor. Go to the
waiting room, or to my office.” The blond doctor scolded him.
“Fine.”
“Where you running
again? You’re sweating. What have you done this time?”
“No- Nothing!” He smiled
sheepishly knowing how well his father knows him. “Say popa…can you
take me to the restricted rooms?”
“No. You know the
patients are a little…dangerous.”
‘I don’t think Mareo
is dangerous.’ “But please, please, please! You know I’ll be
good. Besides, if they’re so dangerous they must be locked, right?”
“Right. Ok, I’ll take
you tomorrow.”
“YES!!!”
“SHHH! This IS a
hospital.”
“Sorry.” The young man
giggled while slowly lifting his buttocks from the spotless floor.
He raked his blond hair and smoothly walked away from his father.
Sachio was 17, but acted younger than he was sometimes. He was very
curious but also very intelligent, like his father. ‘At least he
doesn’t know I sneaked in.’ A smile spread across his face.
He immediately went into
the computer room to work- he also had duties. There was an entire
city built underwater, not only the hospital. There was actually a
‘lifestyle’ down in the sea. All the doctors, scientist,
researchers, and employees in general had their ‘homes’ there. They
even had some kind of mall to buy their everyday needs. Everyone
working at the hospital lived there and couldn’t go to the surface.
There were rooms for
each member of the team, but Rai, Sachio’s father, was the only one
living with his son under water because his wife had passed away
after giving birth. He accepted working at Toru’s Hospital with one
condition- his son must go with him. Rai was a genius, and they
wanted him as part of the team and Sachio was easily accepted.
Dr. Kin was respected by
everyone because of his wisdom and for the many unsolved cases he
had succeeded with. He was indeed the main man of the ‘Supernatural’
project. He knew every little detail behind those doors, he knew
perfectly well all the horrible things done on each sample, but it
was his job. He felt it was cruel and completely wrong, and even
tried to leave the project a few years before, but he was threatened
with his son’s life. If he didn’t agree to keep working, his son
would be turned into a sample. Of course this was enough to keep him
at Toru’s without ever thinking about leaving again. He knew too
much, and there was no escape.
With the Supernatural
project, they were trying to create what could be called a
superhuman, but so far, each sample had been found with only one
types of ability. Not only that, but few were born with anything,
those were special cases and usually happened when one or both of
their parents had been exposed to one or more drugs provided by the
Toru’s Drug Company.
Toru’s Drug Company was
starting to lead the market providing most of the medicines ‘on
surface’ starting, without even knowing, a new race of special
humans, or- supernatural humans.

“Popa! Are you going in
now?” ‘I’m so anxious to see him!!!’
“I’m sorry Sachio, you
can’t come.”
“But you promised!”
“I know, but…Toru forbid
it.”
“Not fair! Did you tell
him I’m doing research myself?”
“Yes, and he only
said…he’ll think about it. So you’ll have to wait, sweetie.”
“O…k.” He was
disappointed. He was hoping to go see Mareo today without needing to
sneak in, but at least he had plan B: wait till the working day was
over. He wasn’t exposing himself again like the day before, he knew
better than to get in the middle of his father’s work.
It was midnight and he
finally decided it was time. He slid out of bed and ran down the
hallway. ‘So far.’ He ran from corner to corner until he
reached the big read door with the sign ‘Restricted Area: authorized
personnel only.’ ‘Finally.’ He looked from side to side,
making sure no one was around before he quickly entered the code.
‘Great!’ The door opened and he quickly entered running straight
to Mareo’s room. ‘7,777 This is it!’
Sachio was excited and
he quickly opened the curtain falling down on his ass immediately
after with the fright. Mareo was standing, waiting in front of the
glass with his eyes focused in nothing. “Mareo!” Then he started
whispering without wanting to be heard. “You scared me.”
Mareo didn’t move, not
even blinking and Sachio felt chills running down his skin. ‘What
happen? Why is he…frozen?’ He stood up once again and looked
into his eyes. ‘It’s me, Sachio. Don’t you remember me? I came
yesterday.’ The sample still didn’t move. ‘Mareo, can you
hear me? If you can…blink.’ He stared for a few seconds, but he
didn’t blink at all. ‘This is useless…he’s probably drugged or
something.’ Suddenly he looked up to at Mareo’s eyes again and
he blinked. ‘You heard me!’ The young man smiled knowing the
sample heard his thoughts and was actually just in a slower mode.
‘Did they drug you?’ He slowly nodded. ‘I’m sorry…I would
like to know you better. Can we be friends?’
Mareo stepped away from
the glass and hid under his covers still in a very slow motion.
‘Mareo! Mareo, what’s
wrong? What did I say? Why don’t you want be friends with me?’
The sample didn’t move,
he stayed under the covers, completely still. The young man on the
other side stared confused and even frustrated. “I have no
friends…there are no guys my age here, you know? I’m the younger
one…I’m not even supposed to live here or be in this area, it’s
forbidden…and here I am talking to myself.” He sighed. “Fine, have
it that way.”
Suddenly Mareo lifted
the sheets. ‘No friends…’ He’d learn what a friend was in his
world, someone who would take his blood, inject strange substances
into his body, hit him, tied him, rape him, and abuse him in every
single possible way. ‘Don’t want more friends…’ He hated his
life, he hated his existence, and all he wanted was freedom. But
what was freedom? For him, it could only mean death.
Mareo was in fact dying,
not of an illness, not of a substance. 7777 was dying of sadness,
sadness for his confinement. He had no desire to live, no dreams; he
didn’t even know how the outside world looked like. All he knew was
that dark room, and the laboratories and bathrooms they took him to.
All he knew out of life was pain and misery, how could he have any
desire to live? How? Living was unknown to him, living was a
meaningless word, living was tragedy, living was terrifying, living
was pure hell.
“Mareo? I won’t hurt
you.”
His bony face was lifted
from the pillow to glance at the young man. ‘How can he be any
different? All the people I know are the same…cruel.’ He slowly
walked back to the glass with trembling legs. His body was so
tenuous and fragile he was almost incapable of walking for too long.
He was kept weak on purpose, so he wouldn’t have much strength to
attack or get too violent.
“Mareo?” He felt
terrible to make him effort- it was obvious he was weak. His body
was shaking with each step he gave, making him fall all of the
sudden.
“Mareo!!!! Are you ok?”
A tearful face slowly
managed to get near the glass pressing his hand to the crystal wall.
Sachio had no idea what he wanted, but he placed his hand against
his noticing how the sample’s body began to shake after he placed
his hand against the crystal. “What’s wrong?”
‘Nothing’s wrong
Sachio, I just wanted to know you better.’ He looked up to
Sachio’s brown eyes searching deep into his soul. ‘He won’t harm
me.’
“Mareo…you want to get
out, don’t you?” He nodded. “I wish I could take you out.”
‘No one can set me
free…only death.’
He stayed for a while
talking to Mareo, even when he never replied. He even wondered if
Mareo knew how to speak since he said nothing, but it was more than
clear he understood every word, and every thought. “I’ll come
back…always.” Sachio kissed the crystal where Mareo’s cheek was laid
almost asleep, and then left back to his room finding a frowning
father waiting in his bed. “Father!”
“Where?”
“I’m sorry.”
“Where Sachio? You’ll
get me in trouble again.”
“Just around…”
“You didn’t enter a room
did you?”
“No, I swear. I just
walked around outside.”
“Ok. Go to bed.”
He sighed and snuggled
in bed thinking about Mareo. ‘I wish I could set you free…my
friend.’
Mareo opened his eyes
half an hour after Sachio left. ‘He kissed me.’ He curled
down on the floor trying to get some sleep, but it was cold and he
didn’t felt strength to go back to his small bed.
‘Cold…cold…cold…cold…’He repeated the same word in his mind like
an endless chant until his door was opened. ‘NO!!!!’ |
