Pakistan is in urgent need
of an improved public health infrastructure. The majority
of the population does not have access to clean water or safe
food. There is spiraling population growth and massive urban
decay. Infectious diseases and pollution are rampant. Drug
addiction and smoking rates, as well as traffic accidents
and crime are increasing at an alarming pace. Resources are
limited and there is a serious lack of organizational ability
to tackle these problems in a systematic way. FJWO is committed
to advancing women's health in all of the life cycles at all
policy levels through education, advocacy and program implementation.
The guiding principles of the FJWO about women's health are:
- Women's health is a continuum from infancy
through old age of which the reproductive years are a stage.
- Long-term initiatives and commitments
are needed in order to forge alliances and collaborative
programs across and within the regions and all over the
country that will result in increased and more effective
health care services and research for women globally.
