Our engagement happened in two stages. After eating dinner at home on February 1st, I showed Fern a list of engagement rings that seemed pretty to me.  I casually asked her to choose what she wants.  We both smiled and hugged.  We were engaged, but with no ring yet.

On our 4th year anniversary, I took her on a dinner cruise around Manhattan aboard World Yacht.  Some time after the appetizers, while waiting for the main course, I slipped the ring in front of Fern while she was looking out towards the Hudson river.  The ring just laid there for about 5 minutes without Fern noticing it.  Then she did and cried.  It was then when I popped the question- "Will you marry me?".  Needless to say, she said "Yes!".

What happened during the cruise was pretty overwhelming for me because it was totally unexpected, though I was of course secretly hoping that that will be the day. I was touched even more when I realized that he was on the verge of crying too. It was such a wonderful feeling.  I now have a favorite New York moment.
