Silverclaw, a Ferret
Captured by Rockjaw
I was out on a routine patrol, fully armed with a spear and sling.  It was getting near lunch time, so I decided to have a light snack.  Pulling my food out of my haversack I cought a movement off to my left.  Knowing that any hare or goodbeast would have introduced itself, I knew it was a vermin type.  I yelled out, "Hey there, vermin, don't slink around, show yourself!"  A dumbfounded ferret stepped out.  I quickly sized him up.  He was short, but looked stong and fast, and he had a silver.  Seeing that I had a spear and sling he became whiny.  "Please, sir, just gimme some food, please," I replied, "Not likely, this is my food.  To get it you must fight me for it!"  At this, he ran off shouting, "Oh ya, bunny, I'll be back with my friends!" What an idiot!  Telling me about an attack that he is staging!  I continued on my patrol.  When I stopped for dinner, Silverclaw returned with three friends, nasty dirty vermin like himself.  Standing up and grabbing me spear and sling, I faced them.  "Told ye I'd return wid friends, yer outnumbered four te one, hehehe!"  I replied, "Pretty bad odds, for you that is.  And from our last meeting I'm a jolly ol' hare, not a bloomin' bunny!"  Silverclaw charged with his friends.  A quick thrust to the stomach slayed one of his friends. The other two realized they couldn't touch me while they only had swords. Silverclaw didn't seem to care that my weapon could outrach his.  He flung himself at me, getting by my spear but being knocked ten feet straight up by my sling.  His friends were gone in a flash, he was out cold.  I trussed him up with some rope from my pack.  I'll put him into a cell at Salamandastron when I'm done with my patrol.

Scumpaw, a water rat.
Captured by Rockjaw
I heard tell of a band of marauding water rats and had gone to destroy them.  They were using a small cove as their base of operations.  I had only brought my sling, knowing a spear might get in the way in water.  As I neared their cove I loaded my sling.  I crawled into the cove and tried to stay in the shadows.  I crawled for what seemed like an eternity.  Then I spotted a light up ahead.  Creeping forward I see a fire with the water rats sleeping around it.  There were too many to try a straight forward attack.  So I decided to wait til morning.  I took a light doze until the sounds of the water rats awoke me.  They were getting ready to sail.  One look at their boat told me what to do.  It was flimsy, but fast.  That's how they had built it.  On rat says, "Oy, Scumpaw, gimme a hand here."  A small rat runs over to the caller.  Together they get in with Scumpaw at the stern.  As they come in line with me I stand twirling my sling.  Firing at their boat I snap it in half!  Most of the rats are stunned, those that are not dead by my rock.  However, Scumpaw was able to leap out of the way.  When he reached shore I dealt him a crack on the noggin, knocking him out.  Then I dragged him off to Salamandastron, hoping that there was still some breakfast left.

Bloodnose a Stoat
Captured by Tajon Barkfir
I was wandering on the beaches one day when I saw a stoat attacking a group of squirrels! I quickly lept into action and attempted to knock him out with my stick. He turned and raised his scimatar, blocking my blow. I quickly gave him a quick kick in the shins, and then thwacked him on the head. He was stunned, but he was quickly recovering. I realized I couldn't knock him out very easily, when suddenly I heard a "thock" and the stoat fell over, with a small welt on the back of his head. I looked behind him and saw that one of the squirrels he was attacking held a sling-shot, the band still quivering. "Hey, youngin'! You have a good eye! Help me carry this beast back to the mountain!" "Really? Are you part of the Long Patrol? Can I join up!" I told him I thought that would be all right, but he would have to ask Tammo. We dragged the vermin back to the mountian, and placed him in the prision pit.
Bloodeye, a Marlfox
Captured by Tajon Barkfir
I was wandering up North on day when I suddenly ran into a fox. His serrated blade shimmered in the sun, and I realized instantly that he was a Marlfox. His cloak was black-grey, and I made sure to keep my eyes on him; I didn't want a marlfox sneaking up on me. Suddenly he vanished. I gripped my stick tightly, extending the blade. Suddenly I heard a twig snap behind me, and I turned just in time to defend myself from the fox's blade about to cut into my skull. He swung again, but again I deflected. I faked an attack, and lunged at his head, but he was too quick. We fought for a full half hour, both of us by then had many cuts and bruses. I attempted finally to thwack his head one last time, he deflected, but my full force snapped his blade in half. His red eye suddenly was full fear, when I gave him one final smack on the noggen. He fell, knocked out. I quickly dragged him back to our mountain, and I had a good prize for Lord Tammo!
Fireclaw the Ferrett
Captured by Tajon Barkfir
I was out visiting some friend far off in Mossflower forest when I ran into a ferret. Now, vermin are not supossed to be wandering around in the forest, at least if I have anything to say about it. So I quickly took to the trees and peered down. I then realized there was not one ferret but two! They were talking, saying "Yeah, Redwall's the place. Poisioners like us will have a great time there. They eat so much all the time, they'll all be dead after the first feast." "Yeah, but Redwaller's aren't dumb. Their notice us before long!" "Ah, don't be a cowar-Aaah!" My javalin flashed down and caught him right through the chest. "Who did that? WHO DID THAT?!" the other ferret roared, showing his claws. I gasped, they were very large and sharp! I quickly jumped down and attempted to smack his head with my stick, but he was too quick. He slashed my arm, leaving three lines of blood. I winced in pain and grabbed my arm, the Ferrett smiling. "Ahh. Thought you could save your friends, the Redwallers eh? Well we will see about that!" He raised his paw and gave me a large slash on my face. "That'll teach ya!" he snarled. I slowly collapsed to the ground, while I watched the ferret smear poision on a blade. "This stuff won't kill ya, but it'll hurt like crazy for the rest of yer life!" He threw the dagger. Suddenly I dodged out of the way, and caught his legs with my stick. He yelled curses and fell to the ground. I lept upon him, slashing at him with the sharp end of my stick, and finally finished him off with a crack to the head. I then tied him up with vines, dulled his claws on a tree, and headed back for Salamandastron, stopping at Redwall for some lunch on the way.
