contains spoilers.)
Q: Where
are some good places to level up and gain magic points
for my magicite?
A: Early
in the game, a good place is when you escape down the
Lete River with Sabin, Edgar, Terra, and Banon from the
Returners' hideout. Take a loop up after the first save
point. Go up every time you come to the fork in the
river, and fight your way around the loop to gain
experience and raise levels. Banon can keep healing your
party for free. If you really want to
beef up levels, use the memory option to put your party
on automatic. Leave it overnight. A good place for magic
points is the tiny Triangle Island in the World of
Balance. You'll come up against a creature called the
Intangir. He's invisible, unless you attack him and wake
him up. If you do, he'll use some pretty nasty magic on
you. Cast doom on him while he's still asleep. When he
wakes, he'll hurt one of your party members badly (perhaps
incapacitate if lower in levels), but will be defeated
afterwards. He'll give you 10 magic points. One of my
favorite places to level up and get decent magic points
in the World of Ruin is the forest just above the Veldt.
Q: I've
talked to everyone in Zozo, and I still can't figure out
what time to set the clock to in that building in the
northeast side of town. Is there something I'm missing?
A: Not
really. The clues are vague and almost impossible to
understand. You'd almost be better off at trial and error.
The correct time is 6 hours, 10 minutes, and 50 seconds.
It's definitely worth it, for you'll acquire a weapon
that can't be found anywhere else.
Q: I've
almost finished the game and I still can't find an area
to learn Mog's Water Rondo. Where do I need to go?
A: Unfortunately,
if you've gotten that far, you're out of luck. The Water
Rondo must be learned in the World of Balance in either
the Lete River or the Serpent Trench. You'll also need to
be sure you meet up with Lone Wolf in the town of Narshe
before Kefka tears the world apart. Find him in the house
in the east side of town and follow him to the cliff
where the frozen Esper is. You'll find him holding Mog
captive. He'll tell you he has a Gold Hairpin. Don't
go to him. Ignore him, and go to Mog instead to
get him to join your party. Lone Wolf will escape, but
you'll get another chance later for a Gold Hairpin. If
you don't get Mog now, you won't see him again until
after the world collapses...and you won't be able to
learn the Water Rondo.
Q: Why
can't I find Shadow in the World of Ruin?
A: Because,
unfortunately, the game will usually trick you into this
outcome. If you've played and beaten the game a few
times, but always find yourself in the end sequence
without Shadow in your party, this question is probably
driving you crazy. There is one crucial decision you must
make to find Shadow in the World of Ruin. It happens when
Kefka moves the statues on the Floating Island, right
before the collaspe of the world. Shadow appears and
tries to hold the statues together, telling you to escape
to the airship and not worry about him. You're suddenly
given a time limit of five minutes to get to the ledge
where you can jump to the airship and make your way to
safety. Go as quickly as you can, for enemies try to
block your every path and slow you down. When reaching
the ledge, your first reaction will be to jump to safety.
Unless you're completely out of time, don't.
Continue to wait, even after a second message prompt asks
if you'd like to jump. At the nick of time, Shadow will
appear and escape with you. If you don't wait for him,
he's gone for good. After the world collapses, you'll
meet up with Shadow in the cave in the Veldt (if you
didn't wait for him, this is where you find Relm). You'll
take him to Thamasa to rest, but he later disappears
again. If you have trouble tracking him down after that,
go to the Colosseum for clues...
