'The Forward Look' ....... in miniature -- pg 4 |
Tron of Italy is responsible for this Heather Rose and black '55 Dodge Convertible. It's a little crude and the proportions are off a bit, but it's the only 1/43rd scale '55 Dodge in town, so I had to go for it. They did a few hardtops; however, I haven't been able to locate one yet. |
Back in 1984 Precision Miniatures of California offered the 1956 Chrysler 300B in all three authentic colors - black, Regimental red, and Cloud white. As with most of the white metal models produced back then, proportions were less than perfect but they got better. Precision Miniatures is now defunct. |
Precision Miniatures also did the '56 New Yorker St. Regis in very limited quantities. This example is authentically painted in Sand Dune beige and Rosewood tan with a black roof. I only know one other collector that has this model. |
The spectacular Glacier blue and black '56 New Yorker convertible is a product of Motor City. The detailing on this limited edition piece is amongst the best available Even the electric window switches are picked out in chrome. Photo etched emblems, authentic chrome wire wheels, and excellent proportions make this model worth it's hefty price tag. |
This colorful pair of '56 DeSoto Fireflites hails from Argentina. The manufacturer is Buby Collectors Classics, which has been out of business since about 1990. These DeSotos were produced in several factory colors and have become quite rare these days. The proportions were excellent and detailing was good for a low-priced model. |
Buby also did this '56 DeSoto Adventurer with authentic gold wheel covers and emblems. The interior is also gold and white. The model was also available in white with gold trim. This is the rarest of the '56 DeSoto models from Argentina. |
The '56 DeSoto Pacesetter convertible also from Buby rounds out my '56 DeSoto collection for the time being. I also have an extensive collection of Indy 500 pace cars -- but more on that later. |
