Hi Tomas!! Ohh man I totally agree about being impatient about that new album!! I have been watching the calendar for months and months!! I have been a big fan of this band for about 12 years now and I cant believe that they can still appear then disappear for years at a time. But at least they really make different albums everytime!! I live in New York U.S.A. How about you?

Write back when you get some time!!..Bye...Trace

P.S..Your China Crisis web page was really great. Did Gary or Eddie ever write you??

Hi Tomas. Yes I have seen China crisis play live here about 9 years ago for the "what price paradise"tour. It was Fantastic!! Gary Daly was incredible singing and dancing around...Gazza was totally focused pumping out his bass parts...Eddie was doing his parts on guitar and Brian was doing keys. There was even a brass horn section that was really great too!!

A local radio station played the concert from that night on the air here and I taped it. It is a real keeper for me since I was in that audience that night.

I have also written to telegraph and they havent written me back. I have a funny feeling that something is up. I pray that they are still there and that the China's are still together working on that album. If I here anything I will let you know as soon as possible!! Have a great day Tomas!!...Trace

Do you have lyrics and / or tablature for CC songs? If so I would welcome an insight!

Bye for now

Hi Tomas,

Finally a China Crisis Homepage!

I was planning on doing one myself, but found I did not have the time. I did, however, scan in most of the CD covers and fiddled around with their logo a bit! If you want them I could send you them.

I also think that China Crisis is the best band EVER! I play base guitar and often dream of them coming to South Africa and Gary 'Gazza' Johnson getting sick so I could play in the band - stupid hey!

My favourite track is "Bigger the punch I'm feeling" off "Flaunt the Imperfection".

What is the "Accoustically Yours Album" like?

If you ever get email from Gary Daly or Eddie Lundon, please publish it.

Keep up the brilliant work!

Greg Gibb

Good morning,
and greetings from Canada Tomas. I concur with your sentiments on China White, and I like the page you created for them.

The reason I am writing is to learn if you know of a source where I can find the lyrics to "Wishful Thinking". I have the song on tape, but no jacket. I checked with my local library, and searched the Net to no avail. Can you help sir???

Regards,

Russel.

Hi,

I really like your China Crisis Web site. I stumbled on to it via the Ultimate Band List. One thing I need to ask: Do you actually own all of those albums? I've been a CC fanatic since the earliest days and can't help but feel incredibly depressed by the concept that there is sooo much that I haven't heard from my favorite band (and the "greatest pop band in the world").

I own all of their albums (except the double-CD Collection) but none of the singles (except the Telegraph "Black Man Ray" single). I've been hoping to happen upon the double CD in a used record store, but thus far I've been unsuccessful. I imagine that you are in Europe, but I'm in Cambridge, Massachusetts, and unfortunately the US is somewhat of a CC limbo.

One thing I do have is an LP of a concert in Holland from 1984. The album cover has Gary & Eddie but it's titled backwards as "Crisis China". It's obviously an unauthorized bootleg, but it's certainly an interesting find.

Last year I wrote a letter to Telegraph records to get CC information. I included a small blurb about being a fan and the letter found it's way to Gary. He sent a nice e-mail to me talking about the new album how busy he and "Ed" are "getting everything back on blob" (I have no idea what "blob" is) but that e-mail made my month.

Well, anyway, it's nice to "speak" with another CC fan, so take care. One CD you may want to check out (as a CC fan) is "The Listening Pool" "Still Life" from Telegraph Records. The music is very "CCish" (Diary of a Hollow Horse era-sounding) and it's one of the few albums I've purchased this year that I really like. It's certainly not CC, but I think it will appeal to a fan of quality "pop".

Regards,

-Steven Brown

I just bought "Working with Fire and steel" by China Crisis i hadnt heard it for 12 years.I almost cant find words to describe it,but it is my favorite pop CD of all time.

Amazingly most Americans havent heard of them!!No Radio Stations play them either!(i have removed a whole string of swear words here!!)

If you know any groups that play in the same style you might drop some names my way.

Hello Thomas,
I've been having a look at the pages for some of the groups I like and I found your site.

I noticed a few question marks on your discography pages and I have the records myself so I thought I'd eMail them to you...

1) African And White (remixed second release)

I have this, do you want me to scan in the cover and send it to you?

2) King In A Catholic Style (Wake Up)

The catalogue no. for the limited edition gatefold sleeve 7" is VSM 765

3) You Did Cut Me

My copy of the 7" double (with caricatures) has a catalogue no. of: VS 799 (you've got VS 7992)

4) Best Kept Secret

Strangely, the catalogue no. for the CD single is: CRIS 92612 (and not a VS...)

5) Red Letter Day

The catalogue no. for the CD limited edition (in red envelope) is: VSCDX 1188

6) African And White (1990 release)

There is a 7" single (catolgue no.: VS 1297) with these tracks: African And White (The Steve Proctor Remix) / Red Sails

I hope these help,

James.

p.s. The site looks fabulous!

Absolutely Great Site,
I never knew that there were so many special and limited edition releases. Anything available for sale? Anywhere? I would love the limited "Collection" #2 disc. I had the joy of experiencing the band twice during the Paradise Tour, My life is almost complete, what vision and focus into the real world. If others only knew.

Any US tours planned, what about new studio stuff? Their Telegraph site hints at a release at some point. Let me know.....Please...

Hello there!!

I havent spoken to you in a long time. Its me Tracy (The big china crisis fan). I wanted to see if you might know what happened to Telegraph records and China crisis? They seemed to have disappeared. I did happen to notice at cdnow.com that china crisis has a new release of "China crisis collection" coming out again. It strikes me weird since that came out a while ago that now it is coming out again for some reason. Any ideas or info on it??...Trace

Tomas!

Little did I know that in my morning foray on the "net" I would find as comprehensive and amazing a collection of information on music as I did in your site! I browsed thru Amish Rake Fight the other night (how could I pass that name and not look in) but when I breezed in and out a certain "BillyZ" tracked me down and we talked a while. (He wondered how I could be so rude - not even to say "hi"; I have been properly chastized!). Anyway, he gave me the home page address and I must say, I am so overly awed at what I have found, I really don't know what to say, except that you can bet I will be giving this address to quite a few people.

Your research and attention to detail are amazing! I was shocked to find "China Crisis" among the selections, also shocked to read they are one of your favorites (did I read that correctly?). Mine, too. I only had the pleasure of seeing them once, at the Coach House here in So. CA, 1986. Alas, I never saw them again near me to enjoy, but the night stands out in my head as one of the finest I remember.

The band graciously signed my tickets - I keep them in the cover of my "What Price Paradise" CD, will treasure them always. I do not have all of their albums, an oversight that needs to be addressed, I know. But I do adore their music, along with several other rather obscure names and bands that I will be looking up.

I just wanted to let you know how your hard work is appreciated - I could spend HOURS in there! (and probably will). If you have a moment, drop me a line (not necessary but it would be fun to hear from you).

I read a little bit of information on ARF - not really my cup of tea, (I am a Christian), but hey, I will take it as all in fun and leave it at that. I won't be adding my name to the list of "players", I'm too computer illiterate and don't have time with my husband and 3 little ones and lots of responsibilities, but I will enjoy the site from time to time and may drop in to say "hello" personally if it is o.k. with you.

By the way, where are you?

Sincerely,

Michelle

At last! - A fellow China Crisis fan.

Nice site, the only other that I've found is the one at Telegraph Records, but it does not seem to have been updated for about a year now.

I got into CC about 5 years ago, and have managed to see them live a few times here in London, the last being a few months ago at the Jazz Cafe here in Camden (convenient - 2 minutes walk from my flat).

Do you have any other info on the band ?, as aside from a few short pieces, it seems difficult to find anything.

Thanks
Justin
