Not much to say except, I know tons of places where you can get China Crisis paraphenalia.I remember this band from some of my earliest days like when they played on a British TV show called "The Whistle Test" & TOTP.If you're British you'll know the second show.

This band should have recieved far more credit & attention for some of their pioneering work. They undoubtedbly influenced the direction of World-pop but nobody seems to know who they are - Pity.

Thanks for the terrific china crisis page. I have been a big fan since the early days and have seen them live twice - both in Newcastle-upon-tyne in front of small but very appreciative audiences. I am currently resident in upstate NY so I feel a little out of touch but pages like yours certainly help - keep up the good work!!

Hi, this is Mike from Toronto, Canada. I've been enjoying your web page...I was a big CC fan a few years ago, but lost track of them after What Price Paradise. I've been looking through some of the e-mails on your page and I notice that quite a few people are looking for the early singles. Well, I have a few 12" singles that I would be willing to sell:

  • African &White
  • Scream Down at Me
  • Black Man Ray
  • You Did Cut Me (not the picture disc)
  • The Highest High
  • Arizona Sky

maybe you could pass this info on to anyone interested - they can just e-mail me at

thanks

Fool Fool Fool that's what I am. I'm 30 years old and still my fascination for the Kirkby lads continues. From the first time I saw them backing Simple Minds at the Kings Hall in Stoke circa 1980 to seeing them 2 weeks ago playing the altogether more intimate Stoke Wheatsheaf, my admiration for their Janglesmithery (what!) never fades.

Great site. Would like to hear off anyone interested in my back catalogue of Crisis Vinyl (12"'s, Albums and singles gatefolds and picture discs) please e-mail me.

For now, keep looking for those Blue Horizons.

Yo, Thomas,

put it there pal. Gggggggggreat to find your China Crisis web site. I have been a fan of theirs since African and White was in the Charts in 1982. I saw them live during their Flaunt tour, which was the height of their fame in the UK. I have copies of all the versions of all their tracks except for the Steve Proctor 12" remix and another remix of Everyday the Same which was on the 12" but not on the CD single. I noticed that 'this' mix is not mentioned in your discog. I have to admit I cannot remember the name of it but I do remember it existing. The last China Crisis item to enter my collection was the original release of African and White which I got in a local market for 50 pence(80 cents US). Gloat, gloat.

I note that your collection is rather humungous but I do offer to you, and any other CC fans, my time in looking for any CC goodies anyone may be looking for. (Will I regret this??). As I am in the UK it will be much easier for me. I've got a little man in my home town whose business is searching out rare records and I am happy to pass details on to him. I know he already has a stash of CC records already.

For your info my fave CC album is Working with Fire and Steel, my fave single is ditto, my fave track is Soul Awakening, my eyes are blue and stars signs are a load of bull.

Ciao, Richard Peat.

Hi, many compliments for the site. The net is becoming the only way to find someone who cares about good music (those golden 80's...).

The only official way to find any info about China was Telegraph Records, but since a week it has shut down from the net. I guess we should work to find some other resources, I'll write to them to see if they only dropped down the site but still in activity, and then let you know.

Keep going

Subject: CHINA CRISIS LYRICS ?

Hi there !

My name is Walrus and I'm writing in from Singapore. I'm so glad to have found your fabulous homepage on China Crisis, one of my favourite 80's band. Personally, I had collected nearly all their CDs but the problem is, I'm still trying very hard to look for lyrics for their first album, "Different Shapes....", as well as the "What Price Paradise" album. Do have any advice as to where I can get them in the internet?

Hope to hear from you soon !

Regards,
WALRUS
