E-Mail of the Week

I have received a few good e-mails since FireRollie.com came online. So now, I have decided to create the E-Mail of the Week contest. No prizes, just bragging rights. To enter, just send me and e-mail at almostfamous@firerollie.com and say that you're writing to be a part of the contest. It's that simple! E-mails may be edited for formatting purposes, though the content of the message will stay intact.

For the Week of January 20, 2002

This person who goes by the name LeJoil dropped me an e-mail last week, and her points are certainly well-detailed. This message was certainly worthy enough to be the inaugural E-Mail of the Week:

You can't imagine how much I enjoy your comments about CSU Athletic Director and most of all Rollie Massimino. I have some friends who work for CSU and let me tell you first hand, it is not a family oriented environment as some people would want you to believe.

I would bet my house that the John Konstantinos have no control over Rollie! Hey, do you ever look at CSU bench during a basketball game? Well, let me tell you what it looks like. First of all there are more men in shirts and ties then there are players. Secondly, all the coaches line up in the first eight seats and then the players fill in the remaining seats. That leaves me wondering who is talking to the players about the game and what they want them to do when they get out there because they can use all the help they can get.

Basically, they should be the best team in the country with all those staff members. What's funnier is the first mistake the player makes he yells at them or take them out of the game. When I watch other college basketball games, I never see as many coaches on one team bench than I do at a CSU ballgame. Third observation, you know it is a smoke screen to cover up a very insecure man when he needs all those RA RA's around him to feed his ego. In other words, I bet Rollie wants people to think that he is a joy to be around, Not!

I've heard from many sources that his ego is so big it is unbelievable how he thinks he is god's gift to basketball. I still say everybody has a birthday once a year. Winning the game against Georgetown was luck but fun to watch. Check this out. Do anybody know when the last time Rollie has been to the NCAA tournament? Nether does Cleveland State!

If CSU thinks he will be the one to bring them back to postseason play, I want some of that stuff they are eating. How about over a decade for Rollie, possibly with Villanova. That is a long drought for any coach of his caliber to be out of the tournament let alone the NIT. Translation, No postseason play in sixteen years! Do you know that none of Rollie's players have ever experience post season play at CSU.

They don't have any idea what it feels like to be part of March Madness because his season ends after the first round of the MCC, I'm sorry the Horizon League. Oh, they went to the second round last year on a last second shot by Theo Dixon or Jamaal Harris; they were eliminated the next game. What is a Horizon League? Do anybody knows who is in the Horizon League? A couple of years ago, CSU was trying to get out of the MCC. I guest they thought it would bring more people to the games. I got news for you it will not!

The City of Cleveland will not support a bunch of losers with the exception of the Cleveland Browns and lord only knows why they route for a back up quarterback to say the least like Couch, but that's another story. If Rollie can't at least come in third place, be competitive in the Horizon League, what makes them think that increasing the level of competition will resort in more wins.

In addition, the independence games Rollie plays will not interest anybody. Stonybrook, Prairie View A & M, IUPUI, which he couldn't beat 2 out of the 3. Bet they thought about 20 wins with that schedule. The first sign of trouble was losing to one of the exhibition teams. I heard that the coach from Reality toss a couple of players together in one week and beat a college team that has been practicing since the summer. They went to Europe which allowed them to practice way ahead of schedule.

Recently, Bill Livingston, a sports writer, wrote an article about CSU and mentioned why they won't have any games on TV Well through the grapevine, they pay Rollie to much money and because of it CSU did not have enough to pay for TV Ask John Konstantinos. Ask John Konstantinos did he do his homework on Rollie because he can't be a happy camper? If he did, he would have know that he drove everyone in Villanova athletic department crazy which led to his firing.

I spoke with coworkers who stated the department was so glad he left. When he mentioned he would leave if he didn't get more money, the athletic director jumped for joy and said good-bye. How many coaches in the NCAA have been fired after winning a national championship? There was a reason and buy the way, Rollie under the table tactics got him fired from UNLV. I bet he is doing the same thing at Cleveland State. I bet they have no records of his income which he is supposed to report. If I understand the NCAA. I bet the president don't have any clue about the athletic department finances, the only school in the country. I bet they are losing money every year.

I thought this was supposed to be Rollie's year to do something for CSU. Well, it's not and unless he get lucky and win the conference, the season is over. Again those poor kids will not get a chance to play in post season. The writing is on the wall but the senior administrators can't read. John Konstantinos should take Rollie with him as they walk down the road to retirement. Hey, both guys have made over a million dollars in the business. Let some new young blood get a chance to improve the program or bring Mackey back! Ask the season ticket holders.
