Bryant
and I met online in August of 1998. We met through Yahoo Personals
and then started chatting on ICQ. I was staying with Lauren
at the time. He was in Elgin, South Carolina and I was staying
in Anniston, Alabama. I had been deleting ever response that
came through but for some reason when I got this one I responded
instead. Of course when he responded to my e-mail the first
thing he wanted was a picture. But I was in luck, my friend
Kirk, had my disks that had all my pictures on them, so I
was never able to send him a pic. He had to wait until he
saw me first.
I believe it was October 2, 1998 when I went back to South
Carolina to live with my father again. My sister Naomi had
also recently moved to Chapin, SC and was asking that I return.
So I thought I would give it another chance and packed up
my bags and headed back to South Carolina. When I arrived
at the bus station, my father picked me up. We did not speak
one word from the moment I got there until we got back to
the house and even then we did not speak. I just got out of
the car, got my stuff and went in to my room. When I arrived
Norma, my step mom, said that Naomi had gone to a football
game and would be back later that night.
I
called Bryant the next day to let him know that I was indeed
back in South Carolina and I was ready to meet him. I believe
it was October 4 or 5 that we finally met. Bryant and his
friend Eli had finally arrived. Naomi of course had the hots
for Eli. At first it all seemed a little awkward meeting somebody
in real life from online. They stayed for several hours that
night. Naomi and I stayed up until 3 in the morning talking
about Bryant & Eli.
A few days after, I went and stayed with my friends Barry
& Chrissy in White Rock. Bryant & Eli came over there
several days in a row. One night I went home with Bryant and
never came back. I stayed with him until my 18 birthday and
then that night I went back to Chapin and got my things. That
is a night I will never forget.
Bryant asked me to marry him on October 20, 1998. We had just
gotten back from the Outer Banks in North Carolina. He drove
by the jewelers place and got the ring and asked me later
that night. I can't really say that I was all that surprised.
I knew it was coming I just didn't know when.
We were married at Shandon United Methodist Church in Columbia,
South Carolina on February 27, 1999. It was beautiful. We
had ordered all the candles that were allowed as I love candles.
The flower arrangements were gorgeous. The flowers used were
white roses, carnations, and I had a Lilly in my bouquet.
I'll also make a little guide of who was what just in case
you know me and are reading this.
Bride: Janett
Maid of Honor: Tasha
Bridesmaid: Naomi
Groom: Bryant
Best Man: Micheal
Usher: Clint
The wedding was pretty small. We were suppose to have a flower
girl and a ring bearer but that is a long story and one that
I don't care to tell. I liked not having to many people there.
I wish more would have showed up but it was beautiful never
the less.
Sometime at the beginning of March we went on our honeymoon
to the Pigeon Forge area of Tennessee. It was PERFECT. It
started snowing as we kept getting closer. When we finally
found our cabin there were heart shaped stones leading to
the cabin. I thought that was cute. When we got in, it could
not have been more perfect. There was a heart shaped Jacuzzi
with a bottle of apple cider and two wine glasses sitting
beside it. There was a beautiful stone fireplace which kept
it nice and toasty in there. It snowed the entire time we
were up there. I didn't want to leave to go back to Columbia.
Shortly after we got back, I found out I was pregnant. I was
totally shocked. I didn't tell anybody but Bryant at first
but he told. I went to the doctor and found out my due date.
The had it set for October 28, 1999. After four months or
what I thought was four months, they did an ultra sound and
found out that "the baby" was way to small to be
four months and wasn't due until November 28.
Here we are three years later, living in Mayesville, with
a baby and enjoying life. We have our ups and downs but manage
to work through everything. We own our own business making
websites and fixing computers. Bryant has helped me through
some tough times.
I will love you always,
Janett
