Promotions are given out strictly at discretion of a GM or Other high ranking officer (captain or above). Promotions mean added responsibility inside the sim and to the ASA itself; however they grant you more flexibility as well as usually playing larger roles in the sims. You may be called upon to recruit or assist in a command position, or something of the like. Your ASA rank will normally reflect the highest rank you hold in any given sim, so if you are a lieutenant in a sim, your ASA rank will likely be Lieutenant. The ASA also gives out awards to distinguished members for services done and other such noble tasks.
