HOW THEN SHALL WE LIVE?
Know clearly that temptations are not dealing with moral issues but to cause us to rebel against God. The tempter does that to get us to oppose God. And doing so by making us believe that we are morally right and still good in the eyes of man and ourselves. But he will have succeeded when we choose to do what we feel is right rather than doing what God sees is right. Temptations are not moral issues. Temptations are spiritual issues of life and death.
Jesus has faced all the temptations that we can possibly face and came out victorious. He did that as Man, not as the Son of God. He knows what we are facing each time we are tempted. And He reminds us to live by God's word.
Yielding to temptation is sin because it causes us to oppose and rebel against God. Anything that causes us to do that is temptation. And the more we are aware and watchful in life, the better we are in facing them. For God has promised that we will not be tempted beyond what we can bear and in all situations there will be a way out for us. God's word is clear and we need to know it and believe it and LIVE by it. |
