Born in Music City USA, that’s Nashville to the rest of you folks, I began banging on the
backside of acoustic guitars at age 8. By the time I was ten, I was playing my first drum
kit. From an early age I had been exposed to many diverse styles of Pop, Rock, and
Improvisational Music.
My first public performance was a concert for my elementary school’s third grade singing
hit’s from Paul Revere and the Raiders, The Rolling Stones, and a solo rendition of
"Ina Godda DaVida". ...Yea Baby!!
My first memory of live music was the opportunity at age nine to see James Brown in
concert. The show totally blew my mind and I wanted to be "James Brown" . UH!.. HIT
ME!...GOOD GOD!...UH!... OW!! .... GIVE THE DRUMMER SOME!.
Developed a huge interest in Jazz, Funk and Blues music while attending Collage
at Southern Tech. Exposure to artist’s such as Tony Williams, Jack DeJohnnette, Steve
Gadd, Billy Cobham, Peter Erskine, and Alex Acuna has inspired me to find my own
voice and expound musically.
Founding Member of The Bazooka Ant’s, who performed several Jazz Festivals opening
for such notables as Airto, Flora Purim, Art Ensemble of Chicago, Medesky Martin and
Wood and Atlanta’s own Cassandra Wilson. Performed live on TV and/or recorded with
fusion group Nite Passage, R&B band Thunder Theives, Sinclare Pickney with members
of The James Brown Band, and Francine Reed.
Currently performing and recording with Atlanta’s "League of Decency" who has
appeared extensively all over the U.S. including several ‘96 Olympic Gig’s as well as a
ten day stint with Francine Reed and Java Monkey. On recently released CD "Jump yer
Bones" by Mundo Heptet (aka League of Decency).
I also teach formally at Atlanta Music Brokers and am currently excepting students at all
levels for all styles of music.
The current Studio Project "FORCAST" allows me to pursue my musical tribute to Jaco,
Monk, and Alex Acuna, expressing world grooves in an intimate musical friendship. George is
an old friend of mine whose pursuit of musical freedom has always inspired me. The groups
unique sound puts emphasis on free expression and inter-communication.
