September 30: Love/Hate Relationship with my 'Puter

It is useless for sheep to pass resolutions in favor of vegetarianism while wolves remain of a different opinion. -- William Ralph Inge, again from Alex

Rich will be working the election, but I decided I wasn't up for it this year. Too many hours. Last election they never got around to calling us, but at least this time they're more on the ball.

I put Adaware on my laptop and got rid of 33 suspicious files. Now, suddenly a dial-up box appears when I start up. I uninstalled Juno, so it's changed to an ATT box, but it doesn't actually work. We looked at the startup menu, and this is nowhere there.

Other little quirks are that Snood has died mid-game on me a couple of times.

I still have to organize the pictures from last year, and I have a couple of albums to make, of Alex's birthday and of our day at Happy Hollow.

Bowling today was good for me. The cancer codger got it together for one game, 180, then fell apart, 111, in game three. Rich's foot is bothering him so he's dropped a couple of pins. I had 130, 131, and 159, and went up to a 125 average. CC talked to me about movies. He, too, loved The Banger Sisters. Then, at the end of the day, we were talking about how long it will be... we're gone next week, and CC will be gone to San Diego to see his niece the week after, so we won't see him for three weeks. (Fingers crossed. He's in month 6 of his 6 months, and so far so good.) Then he walked off... and it took me five minutes to realize he took my ball instead of his own! Fortunately, I caught him in the parking lot. He bowls tomorrow, but I don't know if he'd have realized where his ball was!

I added all the bowling I've done since I started my spreadsheet in early 2001: average is 124 overall, including the terrible ones in Washington in June.

Vince and Niki are back from New England. It sounds like they had a wonderful time.

Dex is currently doing kitten pictures because Rob, the "Guru of Aurora", is in Cupertino. However, the Top 99 list is working again... she's at #5 this month, not bad. (I suspect they banned the auto-voting strip that probably broke the system.) Please vote for her!
