The oath below should be written on parchment paper
and ready to use during the ceremony.

Have water in a bowl and use white candles for the four
corners and another as the altar candle.

Have your chalice, athame, and a caraf or bottle of wine
or fruit juice

Purification of some kind. (a shower or bath is fine).
Using salt during your cleansing is a wonderful help

You may wear a loose fitting robe, be skyclad, or dress
in a manner that is both comfortable and appropriate

Prepare your altar as you would for any other ritual

Cast Your Circle. (go to "home" and see Circle Casting)

Sit before your altar and mediate on casting off your old
non-Wiccan ways. Visualize them withering and melting away.
Blindfold yourself until this period has passed.

Remove the blindfold but keep your eyes closed and
picture your rebirth in your mind's eye. Open yourself
to the light and love glowing before you

Stand, arms and hands help upward, drawing your new
strength through your hands and arms into your heart
and glowing up toward your mind's eye.

SAY: "In the presence of the Goddess who blesses us with
birth, death, and rebirth: In the presence of her Consort,
the Horned God: And the presence of the Four Elementals,
the mighty dead ones, and my brothers and sisters of the
craft, I am ready with perfect love and perfect trust to
take my vows and embark on a journey into self and toward
the Divine Force."

Now say "As the Goddess and her Consort are my witnesses,
I do solemnly swear that I desire with the utmost sincerity
to be initiated into the Wiccan Path. I pledge to serve
the Goddess and Her Consort, the Horned God. I promise never
to stray from the Wiccan Rede which states: An' it harm none,
love, and do what thou wilt. I will work only with positive
energies and white magick, and I will strive to use the
powers of witchcraft for good of others."

Give yourself the equivalent of the five-fold kiss. Honor
your body as it would be honored by an initiator. Your
initiator now is the Goddess herself.

Consecrate yourself:
Kneel in front of the altar and annoint yourself thus:
Dip a finger in the water and mark a cross : 1. on the left
breast (male or female), 2. on the right breast, 3. Just
above the pubic hair. This is the sigil of the first degree,
the downward pointing triangle.

Say "I annoint and consecrate myself priest/ess of the old
religion, and I take the name (speak your magical name
quietly)."

Kneel up in front of the altar. Pour a little wine or juice
into the goblet and place it at the front of the altar.
Now take your athame and holding it with both hands,
pointing down and arms outstretched plunge the blade into
the wine.

Say: "As the cup is to the female so the blade is to the
male. And so conjoined bring blessedness" Take a sip and
replace the cup on the altar.

Now say to yourself: "I pronounce myself reborn as a Witch
and Priest/ess."

Introduce yourself to the Guardians. Go to each quarter
in turn and say: "Guardians of the North Watch-tower, powers
of Earth! This consecrated Priest/ess greets you and
thanks you."
"Guardians of the East Watch-tower, powers of Air! This
consecrated Priest/ess greets you and thanks you."
"Guardians of the South Watch-tower, powers of Fire! This
consecrated Priest/ess greets you and thanks you."
"Guardians of the West Watch-tower, powers of Water! This
consecrated Priest/ess greets you and thanks you."

Sip some wine or fruit juice and eat a cake.

Close the circle and dismiss the quarters in this simple
way. Because you have already thanked them simply face each
direction and say:
(facing North) "Guardians of the North,"
(facing East) "East,"
(facing South) "South,"
(facing West) "and West,"
"Thank you for your presence in my circle, Depart in peace
and power."
