This new door has just been removed from the spray paint booth. It will rest in the painting fixture until the seal coat is cured. The next operation will be the spray application of the stain coat. The door will then dry for at least 24 hours, which should be enough time to cure the oil base stain. When the stain is completely dry, two coats of nitrocellulose lacquer will be applied.
Overall dimensions are 1-3/4" thick, 3' wide and 6'-8" tall. The installation site is a completely remodeled kitchen with maple cabinets having a door design exactly like the panels on the interior face of this door.
After the final coat of finish was rubbed out, the contrast between light and dark grain almost disappeared. The overall effect was as if the door had been carved from one piece of lumber. Upon closer examination the details of the grain pattern in each piece of lumber are still visible.
