The Robland X-31 is the workhorse of My Shop. Weighing in at 1,100 Lbs., with three 3 Hp German motors, this machine is as solid as a rock.  With minimal maintenance it works and looks as good as the day I got it.  Robland combined a 10" table saw, a 1-1/4" spindle shaper, a 12" jointer, a 12" planer and a horizontal mortiser into one fine woodworking machine.

The Delta 36" variable speed lathe is used to turn the limited number of spindles needed for the furniture I make. When in use, the lathe is mounted on top of the workbench, and held in place by the bench dogs. When not in use it slides to the right onto a shelf  built to the same height as the top of the bench.

Nathan Lindsey has granted permission to link to his  web site about old hand tools called "Saw Set And Vintage Saw Tool Museum".  If you are interest in restoring or maintaining old hand tools, this is a must see site.  Of particular interest to me is a page describing a method of sharpening plane blades authored by Steve LaMantia. If you use hand planes and want to know how to sharpen them, you need to read about the Scary Sharp (TM) method.
