The Bad Guys
Most of the bad guys in ACC are not really evil, just misunderstood saps who are really quite decent, if given a chance. The following are not all of them, only the ones I think are more important or more frequently seen. |

Daimaou Daimaou is the big boss, the main man, the root of all evil, at least in this series. The god of evil (actually, I don't know if it's the god of evil, like Satan, or a god of evil, that is, if there are others like him). Daimaou is the cause, directly or indirectly, of almost all of the pain and suffering in the Kingdom during his reign. He started his evil career way, way back before any of the characters were born. He tried to take over the kingdom then but with the effort of Magical Princess Joan and the people's love, courage and hope, he was forced back into the Netherworld, where he came from. A very long time passed before he tried to invade the Native Land again. But this time, he was marginally successful--he turned the king and queen (and almost everybody else in the castle) into stone, beaten off the kingdom's defenders (like Genus and Seravi; Access was taken care of by blackmail), and seized the royal palace and turned it into his castle. I said marginally because of two this: one is that Genus managed to cast a spell that imprisoned him to his castle and two, Seravi successfully retreated with the baby princess Chacha and hid her well that it took Daimaou's minions at least 12 years to find her. After finding her, Daimaou tried to eliminate her and this is basically what happens for the entire half of the series. I cannot outline all of his evil schemes without telling almost the whole series, so I'll leave it to this point. As for Daimaou himself, for the first 30 plus episodes, he had just contented himself to just leave everything to his servants, particularly Sorges. During this time, only his clawed hand was shown, sometimes holding a goblet, sometimes, Chinese marbles, as he sits on his throne. Only when he "fired" Sorges did we see his entire body. The only time he fought directly is when the eight paladins (Chacha and the gang) stormed his castle. He did gave the magical princess a hard time and he managed to destroy the Bird Shield. It took the cooperation of the eight to finally defeat Daimaou. |

Sorges Sorges is Daimaou's first henchman. It was him who recruited the first batch of bad guys who tried to finish off Chacha. He must have some hidden talent or magic of persuasion because he convinced Daimaou for second chances for the next 30+ episodes! When, at last, Daimaou was fed up, he tried to turn him into stone. Too bad Sorges is too slippery for the evil god to catch, or maybe just lucky--it was Genus' spell of containment that prevented Daimaou from catching him when he escaped from the castle. He revealed to the gang that Chacha is the real princess of the land. After Daimaou, he retired from the evil sidekick career (except for that short stint with Sofia, but to be fair, he was just forced to work for her) and set up fried rice restaurant with Haideyansu and Yordas. It seems then he is trained as a priest and was the one who officiated Seravi and Dorothy's almost wedding. |

Haideyansu and Yordas After Sorges was, ummm, fired, Daimaou's next henchmen were Haideyansu and Yordas. Like Sorges, the two are also magicians. Both have the ability to transform into other living things (among others into a gigantic crab and lobster) and can hypnotize others (I think it was Haideyansu who hypnotized Shiine into becoming bad). And also like Sorges, they come off as bumbling henchmen who almost always fail in their schemes, if not make it worse. Fortunately for Daimaou, he had Access to do the more serious evil work...for a while. After Daimaou's defeat, the two set up a fried rice venture with Sorges as their partner. |

Ranran and Kankan Ranran and Kankan are twin magicians who were originally brought out by Sorges to take care of Chacha and the gang. Kankan is the guy and Ranran is the girl. Aside from being magic-users, they are performers like those in a traveling circus. They use this talent to lure their victims to their trap. The twins generally use magic potions which are actually quite effective. The first time they tried eliminating Chacha and the boys, they mixed up a potion that can make somebody younger. It turned the trio into babies and Seravi and Dorothy into teenagers, to Seravi's delight, since Dorothy became golden-haired again. The next time they showed up, they had a potion that turns people into animals. It turned Chacha, Riiya, Shiine, Yakko, Marin and Suzu into very cute and cuddly animals (more specifically, into a koala, wolf, gopher, warthog, duck and flying squirrel). It seems that the twin's animal is the panda since it's the theme of all of their stuff. They even got a giant panda monster that the magical princess, of course, defeated. The girl on the picture is Ranran with the giant panda and some other bad guy. |

Mikaneko and the Nyandabar Robots Mikaneko is a cat person who works as a scientist and inventor. Among his inventions are Chacha's cathouse and the Nyandabar robots. Sometimes brilliant, he is also determined (he tried to get Chacha for, I think, four times) and persistent (he build and rebuild the Nyandabar robots again and again, the next not necessarily better than the previous, but is definitely more entertaining). He have three brothers, Toraneko, Kuroneko and Buchineko and one sister, Shironeko. Yup, Shironeko is that melodramatic cat girl who is in love with Seravi (and that would give us a total of 3 girls and one, umm, girl-like person who are in love with Seravi). The first of the Nyandabar series is the Nyandabar Z. It is a robot which looks like a cat (as with the next Nyandabars) and is piloted by Mikaneko only. Magical Princess Holyup destroyed it with her Selene Arrow. The next version is the Nyandabar Double Z. This is my favorite Nyandabar, an obvious and quite hilarious spoof of those mecha (robot) animes like Voltes V, Combattler V, or even the Power Rangers. This time it took all 5 brothers and sisters, in five vehicles and complete with the posing and the theme music, to "volt in" (sorry...I couldn't resist) to form a larger robot. Too bad it was also destroyed by the magical princess. The third one is piloted by Mikoneko and Shironeko. It's not designed that well--it suffered from various malfunctions and Shironeko's melodramatics ^_^;. As with the rest, it was destroyed by Holyup using the Phoenix Sword. The fourth one was the only one not destroyed in battle because by that time, Chacha can't transform into the magical princess anymore and doesn't want to fight anyway. Although it suffered from malfunctions (both in-built and due to Riiya's naughtiness), it's the only Nyandabar robot that survived. It's probably the one (of course, it must've been redesigned; Mikaneko retired from being a bad guy and gotten himself a job as the kingdom's royal inventor) that Genus rode on to go to Dorothy's castle and deliver the, ummm, wedding rings. |

Pontius Pikapon Pontius Pikapon is the former World's Greatest Magician. He had the title when Seravi and Dorothy were about Chacha's age. He lived on a mansion (or is it a castle?) on the top of Yellow Ridge Mountain. Arrogant, rude and domineering, his greatest pride is his long, curly brown hair. He even have a library of spell books which are only about hair magic! His decision to take Dorothy as his apprentice (a decision that have something to do with the fact that Dorothy is rich), proved to be his downfall because it him cross paths with Seravi. So in order for the love-struck Seravi to rescue his then golden-haired Dorothy, he fought Pikapon for the World's Greatest Magician title. Seravi, who never used magic until that day, beat the crap out of Pikapon. But in the end it was Dorothy who got the title, being the one who made the final blow. No matter--the title is destined to be Seravi's anyway. When Seravi, very happy his love had gotten her greatest dream at long last, magicked a giant bouquet for Dorothy, it fell on her and knocked her out, making Sherman declare Seravi as World's Greatest Magician. It really pissed Dorothy off! She tried to make Seravi fight her but he really don't want to, so she turned her hair into red to make him angry enough to have a battle with her. It made him angry all right, so angry he never even want to see her again, much less to fight with her. But this is not about Pikapon at all...sorry. Though Pikapon had a long, curly, rich brown hair then, Seravi "murdered" his hair until what remained is a lonely little stub on the middle of his shiny head. Poor Pikapon, I could actually feel sorry for him, if he wasn't so snobbish. Though he want to get his revenge and his title back from Seravi, it seems to me that he actually fears Seravi (Pikapon describes him as a "monster"), relying on sneaky tricks (like that magic-absorbing soda). In the picture, Pikapon is the one inside the robot that looks like Ultraman ^_^;. |

Sofia and Bacchus Sofia and Bacchus are the last bad guys that the Magical Princess Holyup fought before Chacha have to give up the Princess Medallion. Both are magicians and used "evil music" (Bacchus's weapon is a tuning fork and Sofia uses a microphone and sing, err, evilly...sorry for the pun) to do their evil deeds (but I think Sofia is more powerful than Bacchus, who after being defeated by Holyup, didn't show up again). When Sofia stole the King's Royal Seal, the Sacred Bird, the magic of the Sacred Bird made her more powerful than before. She used the Sacred Bird to try and open the portal to the Netherworld. Once the portal is opened, all of those nameless, evil monster in the Netherworld can come and wreck havoc into the kingdom, with Sofia as their ruler. Well, that's Sofia's plan which, with Holyup's help, will not happen. Sofia was defeated by the magical princess but not before the portal was opened. Ironically, it was the magical princess who accidentally opened it. Chacha, Riiya and Shiine have to sacrifice their three magical gadgets to seal the portal and save the kingdom...but with a price; the magical princess will never be seen again ever. |
