The
adiabatic saturator system was put up to support cheaper means of
providing cooling comfort without the use of refrigerant, compressor
and pressurized piping but instead with the use of a fan and water
pump. Thus, the study
aims to evaluate the result of a simple, effective, environmentally
friendly and healthy cooling process.
Water being the universal coolant and the working fluid that
can meet many air-conditioning is used as a cooling agent. Provided
that one of the objectives of the study is to provide cooling
comfort, a water pump is placed on the collection basin under the
coil and sprinkles droplets of water over a coil in the stream,
which achieves adiabatic saturation process.
Therefore, different measures were considered to study and
evaluate the performance of the cooling system, such as: taking and
recording the wet bulb temperature using a thermocouple which is
placed on the collection basin, the temperature of the air leaving
the saturator which is placed on the exhaust, and at the same time
the ambient temperature. It has been monitored that wet temperature
is always lower than the dry temperature & coolness is dependent
on the atmospheric temperature.
Recorded data revealed that air-conditioning could be
achieved through adiabatic saturation process with economically
cheaper materials, lesser energy consumption yet an effective form
of comfort cooling.
