The Best
by Kay Winters
The best part
of the day
is when I hear
the teacher say,
"Sit by my chair
while I read"
We sprawl
on the rug.
It's like listening
to a hug,
while the story magic
pours over me.

Batty
The baby bat
Screamed out in fright,
"Turn on the dark,
I'm afraid of the light."

The Learning
Journey
Grab hold of a
magic pencil
open your eyes and mind
for now begins a journey
of the most exciting kind.
A journey into learning
A step....A start.....A glow,
And I will be there with you
to help and watch you grow.

Five Little Monsters
Five little
monsters
By the light of the
moon
Stirring pudding
with
A wooden pudding
spoon.
The first one
says,
"It mustn't be
runny."
The second one
says,
"That would make it taste funny."
The third one
says,
"It mustn't be
lumpy."
The fourth one
says,
"That would make me grumpy."
The fifth one
smiles,
Hums a little
tune,
And licks all the
drippings
From the wooden pudding spoon.

Spider Webs
The spiders were
busy last night;
From every fence and
tree
They hung their lacy
webs
For all the world to
see.
The mist was busy
too;
In the stillness of the
night
It strung the spider webs with pearls
To catch the morning
light.
One spider wove a
web
Like frost on a
windowpane;
Another one spun a single
thread
That looks like a jeweled
chain.
Motionless hang
the
webs,
By the quiet sunbeams kissed
;
A fairy world was made last night
By the spiders and the
mist.
