June 30th, 2006-The GBPOA welcomes and congratulate Ofc. C. Roy to the department. 

June 15th, 2006-The GBPOA recently elected Sgt. J. Peters to Vice-President of the GBPOA Board.

                May 20th, 2006-Association members will be glad to know that the City will allow Bi-Lingual pay for person that qualify without waiting six-months from date of hire.

                May 14th, 2006-A thank you goes to Officer R. Bio for representing our department at this years Peace Officers Memorial in Sacramento.

                May 5th, 2006-The Click it or Ticket Seatbelt campaign is starting. Sign up for Overtime with your watch commander.

                May 1st, 2006-Sworn GBPOA members are encouraged to know their POBR rights. 

                February 2nd, 2006- The department has a new Interim Lieutenant, Jim English, to help out while testing begins. Welcome. 

                January 31st, 2006- A total of 41,607 toys were collects in this county for the 2005 Toys-for-Tots program.  

                January 31st, 2006- The POA has retained the help of Dale Strobridge during negotiations this year.

                January 31st, 2006-New POA board members were elected on this date. President is S. Lopez, Vice-President is P. Clemo, Secretary is S. Varley and Treasurer is D. Polit. 

                January 12th, 2006-POA members were saddened to hear that Lt. Brian Thomas committed suicide. Our thoughts and prayers goes out to the family.

                October 23-28th, 2005, is Red Ribbon Week to commemorate the continuing war on drugs and the sacrifices made by Law Enforcement personnel. You can read about it's origin here.

                October 17th, 2005-The GBPOA would like to welcome on board Ofc. S. Ball to the Department.   

                October 1st, 2005-The GBPOA would like to welcome on board Ofc. R. Ituralde to the Department.  

                September 25th, 2005-The GBPOA is helping to support the Katrina survivors by making contributions to various organizations.       

                September 10th, 2005-Congratulations are in order for Ofc. Mollenkopf and Ofc. Limon, who now take the rank of Sergeant at Grover Beach Police Department.    


                 March 10th, 2005-POA members are encouraged to provide a voluntary tax-free contribution on their annual State Income Tax to the "California Peace Officers Memorial Fund." You can donate $1.00 or more by checking the box on your 540 Income Tax Return form. Contact your tax preparer for more information.

                March 10th, 2005-POA members are encouraged to view their Peace Officer Bill of Rights also known as POBR.

                March 8th, 2005-For those prior Military / Reserve Military, Congress has enacted an amended USERRA rights. You can view them by clicking here.

                February 21, 2005-S.D.I. (State Disability Insurance) has increased from $520.00 (approximately) to the cap of $794.18. This was due to the recently enacted law for Paternity Leave and Emergency Leave under the Federal Family Leave Act

                January 11th, 2005- The POA would like to welcome the new Chief of Police, J. Copsey to the Department. We say farewell to Interim Chief Gardiner. He will be missed. 

               January 1st, 2005-The POA has elected new members to the POA board. Congratulations to A. Limon-President, K. Cook-Vice President, S. Varley-Treasurer and P. Clemo-Secretary.

                December 25th, 2005-The POA is proud to announce that it collected over 700 toys in the department alone for this years Toys-for-Tots Christmas program. Over 30,000 toys were collected and distributed in the whole County. 

                December 20th, 2005-The POA would like to welcome Dispatcher S. Scully to the ranks. 

                September 12th, 2004-Congratulations to Officer M. Hollis and Dispatcher S. Hollis on their new child. 

                 September 1st, 2004-POA members welcomed new Interim Chief J. Gardiner.

                 August 15th, 2004-POA members welcomed New Lieutenant P. Stotesbury to the Department.

                June 31st, 2004-POA members wish all the best to this years negotiating team for this Fiscal Year's department work contract. 

                June 21st, 2004-POA members are encouraged to sign up for this years Volkslauf-Mud Run in Bakersfield, CA, in October 2004. All proceeds go towards the Toys-for-Tot program during the Christmas season. Contact POA member Officer S. Lopez for details.

              June 21st, 2004-POA members are saddened to hear that Grover Beach Police Chief of Police John Bradbury has decided to retire September 2004. The POA wishes him all the best and hopes he enjoys his retirement. 

             June 20th. 2004-The POA would like to welcome back Reserve Officer P. Quaglino after his injury he received at his full-time employment. 

             June 1st. 2004-The POA would like to welcome Reserve Officers J. Lee and J. Deleija to this department. All POA members wish you the best in your individual careers.

                January 28th, 2004- POA members voted for Cpl. Limon for POA president, Ofc. Cook for Vice President, Records Clerk Clemo for Secretary and Records Supervisor Varley for Treasurer.

                January 25th, 2004- The POA would like to welcome Dispatcher Shoneman to the Department.

                January 16th, 2004- The POA held the going away party for the retirement of Records Supervisor D. Lovejoy and Commander O. Cambell. You will be missed!

                January 5th, 2004- Effective January 1st, 2004 GBPOA employees will pay the mandatory contribution rate of 1.18% for State Disability Insurance (SDI). More information on these benefits can be found from the Human Resource Office or by calling 1-877-BE THERE. 

                January 1st, 2004- The GBFD is asking that all employees check and maintain their residential smoke detectors. 

                January 1st, 2004- The POA will be starting negotiations with the City of Grover Beach.

                November 5th, 2003- The POA would like to welcome Dispatcher Fulrodht and Dispatcher Stipicevich to the Department.

                November 5th, 2003-All POA members are asked to donate toys to the Toys-for-Tots program at the Christmas party.

                December 1st, 2002-The POA would like to send words of encouragement for the CHP officer involved in the officer involved shooting on Highway 101. 

                November 4th, 2002-Don't forget to vote November 5th, 2002!

                November 4th, 2002-The annual Grover Beach Holiday Parade is Saturday, December 7th, 2002 at 10:00a.m.

                November1st, 2002-POA members are encouraged to sign up for the Christmas Party at Garden's of Avila. Contact D. Lovejoy to purchase your seats (10$ per POA member).

                October 31st, 2002-The finance department is working towards making your paycheck to be deposited electronically. Contact the Finance Department for more information. 

                October 31st, 2002-The department has recently introduced a new Child Identification card for children. This card will contain the individual child's medical, dental, fingerprints, photo etc., in helping identify a lost/missing/abducted child. 

                October 31st, 2002-POA members have a POA meeting November 7th, 2002 (Thursday) at 5:00 p.m. If you cannot attend, please give your proxy to someone. 

                October 30th, 2002-Although late, the POA would like to welcome Reserve Officer Deleon, Reserve Officer Quaglino and Reserve Officer Bio to the department.

                October 2nd, 2002-City Council meets every 1st and 3rd of the Month on Monday's at 6:30 p.m.  

                October 1st, 2002-The City/POA M.O.U (Memorandum of Understanding) contract has been posted to this web site. You can view the M.O.U. by clicking the link.

                   September 25th, 2002-Lifeguard Insurance will no longer be available to POA members as of December 31st, 2002. Contact your Human Resource department for the options available to you.

                    September 10th, 2002-The POA would like to welcome Dispatcher McFarlin to the Department.

                    September 2nd, 2002-The POA will be researching the cost for POA members to purchase S.D.I. (State Disability Insurance).

                    September 2nd, 2002-The new POA MOU was passed by the city council. The contract includes a 5% longevity pay increase, a 5% Detective pay increase, a 7.5% educational incentive for a Masters Degree, a $900 year clothing allowance and a $1 hour Watch Commander pay increase.

                    August 10th, 2002-Dispatcher Salamanca was involved in a roll-over, single-car collision. Thankfully Dispatcher Salamanca was unhurt. The POA wishes her a speedy recovery to return to duty.

                   August 5th, 2002-The POA and the City Management have come to a tentative agreement on new working conditions. It appears that all members are pleased with the results of this negotiations. A "well-done" goes out to the negotiation team.

                   July 29th, 2002-Officer Ramirez is leaving the department. The POA wishes him and his family well in wherever he goes. He will be missed.

               July 29th, 2002-It appears that the contract negotiations is coming to a close between the city and POA. All POA members are asked to make the next association meeting. 

               July 26th, 2002-The city is currently looking to employ a part time Dispatcher, a full-time Peace Officer and several Reserve Officers.

                July 1st, 2002-GBPOA and GBFFA will begin selling fireworks for this years fund-raiser. Contact your POA representatives to sign up to work the booth.

                June 31st, 2002-Lifeguard members have 31 days to enroll a new spouse or child in your Lifeguard Health plan. Contact your benefits representative or your Lifeguard Service Department at 1-800-995-0380 for more information. 

                March 1st, 2002-GBPOA begins talks with City Administration on this years new work contract.

                January 1st, 2002-GBPOA members begin the new fiscal year without a signed work contract.
