Thank You.
Now is the time for me to be thoughtful, sincere, and obsequious. The truth of the matter is, all the people that I want to thank know how important they are to me already. I am constantly in a state of disbelief regarding the overwhelming support in these matters musical. This is my dream, my life, and the bain of my existence. (the latter only in the case of banks being stupid, deadlines being missed, and the occasional strange forms of inspiration)
Music, to me is what it’s all about. It’s what I am about. I am here for my own good. It has given me compassion, passion, and purpose. It has also taken my sanity and my emptied my pocketbook, but that’s the easy part. The hard part is staying true to myself and the way I want to present myself to the world. I want to thank the following people for helping my achieve my ambitious aspirations.
First, and foremost, I want to thank the spirits that be for blessing me with friends, family, insanity, talent, and music. My absolutely insane and adorable mother, Julie, and her equally as acerbic and laid-back co-inhabitant, Mike, for their fake bacon and planned out T.V. nights. My awesome grandmother, Shirley, for playing my CD in her 200-disc changer along with the 5 other CDs she owns (and for still taking interest in taking me to the Science Center) This demo would not be possible without all of you. Brian and Karen, for your cross-country support. To my father, for the endless inspiration. You may not be here physically, but spiritually, you are strong. I wish you could see how your little girl has grown up.
Miss Sandi Wilson. You are the most power hungry, snobby, pretentious person I know. It makes me realize I have a lot of ground to cover before I’m as good as you. However, no one can embody such snobbery with such compassion and raw ambition, while at the same time talking about the “slut with the fake hair” while she sits at home in her robe. I love you and everything you have done for me. Your belief in me has made me a stronger person, and I hope you will always feel the same.
(but I won’t ever forget the salad bar you left in my car)
M.R.S.(right?)H. Even being the “PepE Girl” and eating all your food, and leaving dishes in the sink… you still gave me a key to the house. You are the strongest pillar of support for both myself and Sandi, and your constant sacrifices and frolicking (yes, you do) around the living room deserve my utmost admiration. Jasmine. The day you poked me with a fork, I knew you liked me. You are a goon, and deserve your own show on Nickelodeon.
Jamie. My very own F.Y.I. correspondent, and best friend. What can I say that hasn’t already been said? I have a tour jacket with “I’m allowed to be the b****” on it just for you. Kendra. It’s all your fault I got started with this thing, and I’m taking you down with me. I am so thankful for you and your support… with songwriting, with late night chats, with the “ignorant” boys. Amanda. Thanks for your encouragement, even when you made me sing for any and everyone that came over to our house. Tiffany. For the free entertainment. Lila. (Yi) For enduring the hell (in a good way?) of TEG right along with me. Give me just one bite… Orange. For your dance steps and attitude.
Emily McIntosh (the ad-lib library) This is what I think of when I think of you. Rice flavored tea, retarded butterflies, Chai tea air freshener, cute clothes, and above all, an extremely talented singer and a great vocal coach. You have had such an influence on me, and have spent so many hours working with me, that I can always see my potential when I work with you. I marvel at your patience, especially when Girl 3 is being a diva and Girl 7 just can’t get it right. I only have best wishes and encouragement as we battle the same monster they like to call The Industry. Paul Davis @ Human Harmony. You are such an awesome and talented man. Your genuine nature and great personality are a blessing. I look forward to working with you in the future. (even if I have to go to L.A. to do it)
Mark A. Smith. For getting the techno thing, putting up with my pickiness, and the “money crap”. It all was worth it in the end, right? John Silva @ Silva Studios. I have a thank you for you...ah, it's on a post-it here somewhere... oh, here we go. I appreciate your patience tackling the monstrosity of mixing. Jose Antonio. Thank you for your talent, support, and charitable Salsa Lessons for the Rhythmically Impaired. "A Donde Ire" is such a unique opportunity for me to widen my scope of music, and I'm glad you were here to share it. Rico Iniquez. Oy, dinero para matarme. Muchas Gracias. Dave Rogers @ Hanzek Audio. I always think of you when I see a croissant. You are a great engineer. Julia for making me look pretty, James Warren for capturing it on film. Shawn Miller (enhanced CD guru), Maya, for not buggin’ too much over the money thing, Angus (the mascot) Marybeth, Tiare, and Jade just for being my travel buddies, and American Airlines-- you’ve screwed up more than a little bit, but we couldn’t fly without you and your vouchers.
Adrian Buchan @ Emerald Downs, Cameron Carson and Nate Kelly @ Tacoma Rainiers, Chad Fondren, Gaye, Mimi, and Max Rosen @ Diskmakers, Dion McIntosh @ MEI Studios, Ronell Richardson @ A Capella Studios, Johnny Wright @ Wright Entertainment Group, (Ahem. Vegas.) Ron Beinstock, Liz Redwing, Don Passman (for your book and the Todd Cooper rec.), Jim Welch @ Epic Records, for allowing me to hook you up with some bad a** music. Okay. I just wanted to look cool for getting to say your names. (But thank you!)
The talented musicians (past and present) that have come before me who have provided inspiration and immense diversity for me as an artist. The Beatles, Tom Petty, Frederick McCormick, Cake, Eric Clapton, No Doubt, Ry Cooder, 98 Degrees, Ella Fitzgerald, NSYNC, Cat Stevens, Foo Fighters, Dean Martin, Aerosmith, Michael Jackson, Coldplay, Jewel, Garbage, Paula Abdul, Eminem, Led Zeppelin, Stone Temple Pilots, Gloria Estefan, Boys II Men, Boston, Britney Spears, Richard Marx, Tito Puente, Sheryl Crow, Brian McKnight, Steven Malkmus, Prince, Frank Sinatra, Stevie Wonder, Vanessa Mae, Diana Krall, Steve Miller, Sarah McLachlan, Antonio Carlos Jobim, Janet Jackson, Lenny Kravitz, Dusty Springfield, Billy Joel, George Michael, K's Choice, Nelly Furtado, Barenaked Ladies, Ira Gershwin, Sting, The Police, The Corrs, BBMak, Bijou Phillips, Madonna, and many other artists who should never EVER be put in the same category EVER again.
Finally, to all my fans, past, present, and future. The thought of you feeling the same way I do about my music is the biggest dream of mine that could ever be fulfilled. Thank You.
This is just the beginning.
