“Aromatherapy is … the skilled and controlled use of essential oils for physical and emotional health and well being.” Valerie Cooksley

Incense and aromatic oils have been used for thousands of years in religious rituals, to mask unpleasant odours and for health purposes (warding off disease carrying insects and to ease tension). However, it was not until the early 1920s that aromatherapy became a recognized modality in health care. |

How Does Aromatherapy Work?
Professional aroma-therapists believe that essential oils can either soothe and relax or stimulate and invigorate. The oils may do so chemically, by reacting with hormones and enzymes after it enters the blood stream. Each oil has a specific purpose and action based on the plants it was extracted from and the environment in which the plant grew. For example, Arnica comes from the mountains where the sun is strong and the air clean, it is said to improve circulation and therefore is useful in alleviating sports injuries and bruises. |
Aromatherapy for Children
Aromatherapy can treat almost anything from diaper rash to asthma. It is a gentle and affordable alternative to many cosmetic and chemical alternatives. |
