The Batumi Baby Home
is located in Batumi, a city in western Georgia near the Black Sea. Far from Tbilisi, the nation’s capital, the
Batumi Baby Home receives less attention and
humanitarian aid than other Georgian orphanages. About 80 infants and toddlers
live in this facility. It is obvious that the orphanage staff lavishes
considerable care and attention on the children, with most of the available
resources spent on food for them. But everything else suffers.
For example, the building does not have any running water, all water being
drawn from a nearby well. One of our goals is to raise funds to build a water
pipe from the city of Batumi to the Baby Home. The facility also needs money for
extensive renovation work, both inside and out. In addition, donations of basic
infant and toddler needs, such as linens, blankets, warm clothing, and shoes,
would be much appreciated.
